EXTERNAL VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

FH/Uganda is actively seeking for qualified candidates committed to its Heartbeat and Corporate Strategy to fill the career opening of;

1.Job Title: Finance & Admin Officer (01)


Location: Namutumba
Reports to: Program Area Manager/Regional Finance Officer
Contract Length: Two Years- with possibility of extension
Start Date: March 2021

Job Summary:
The Finance Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Field finance operations including preparing periodic
financial reports, reconcile accounting information, review major payments and invoices for consistence with organizational
procedures and established accounting formats and import all journal templates into the Sun System. He/she will handle monthly bank
reconciliations and transactions; and monitor transactions to ensure proper cash management for all the field offices in line with the
planned program activities in compliance with FH policy and Procedures. Additionally, this position directly and indirectly manages
the Cashier/Stores, Guards, Office Attendants at Cluster/Field level.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 Produce monthly financial reports to Kampala office and donor reports according to donor requirements, ensuring accuracy
and compliance
 Working as a liaison between the bank and the organization, collect monthly bank statements and prepare bank reconciliation
to reconcile with book and G/L accounts balances;
 Prepare the project cash flow forecast with programs feedback and reconcile with the original budget before sending to
Kampala finance.
 Ensure compliance with donor regulations, FH finance policies and local government rules and regulations;
 Ensure the accuracy and correctness of all transactions against each grant; ensuring all expenditures are posted under the right
account codes
 Ensure budget holders understand the requirements of grant and grant auditors’ requirements, have prepared all necessary
paperwork to the audit;
 In coordination with Kampala finance, organize in house training and/or orientation session on finance to projects staff;
Administration

1. Support the Administration of the cluster by:


2. Supervising the administrative staff as may be required
3. Giving support to the Logistic Officers to ensure the right procurement processes are followed and participate in the bid
evaluation process for purchases within the cluster threshold
4. Ensuring timely payment of all outstanding utility bills and rent
5. Support the Program Area Manager in enforcing Organization policies

Education & Experience

 Candidate should have a bachelor’s degree/equivalent in Finance and accounting or related discipline from a recognized
university or institution.
 Having completed ACCA/CPA level II is added advantage / pursuing professional qualifications
 Minimum of 4 years extensive experience in financial management and co-ordination preferably within an international NGO
environment
 Having an auditing background is an added advantage.

2.Job Title: Social & Behaviour Change Communication Officer (SBCC) 01


Position Type: Contract
Location: Lamwo Field Office
Reports to: Project Coordinator
Contract Length: 10 months Renewable upon satisfactory performance
Supervision Areas: IYCF Assistants and Community Nutrition Volunteers
Start Date: March 2021

Job Summary:

The Social Behavior Change officer will lead the planning and roll out of community dialogues and FHU behavior change
modules, male engagement activities, and other related activities in the WFP Nutrition project in Palabek, Lamwo.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 In close coordination with the Project Coordinator, IYCF Assistants and Community Nutrition Volunteers, identify and take
lead in the mobilization and sensitization of target communities for community dialogue and engagement activities in
sanitation and hygiene practises as well as IYCF materials.
 Work collaboratively with other project team members to ensure necessary program planning, development, resource
availability and management activities function smoothly and efficiently.
 Supervision of IYCF Assistants and Community Nutrition Volunteers to ensure completion of work plans and
troubleshooting of challenges.
 Participate in the budget planning and ensure the compliance and the optimal appropriation of allocated program funds.
 Liaise with other actors such as the District Health teams, Community development offices, CSO networks and community
structures for partnership and collaboration geared towards strengthening community level Behaviour Change
Communication to influence implementation as a means to achieve GHG BCC agenda.
 Prepare and submit Weekly updates, monthly activity reports and quarterly reports in quality and timely manner with active
participation in monthly review meetings and trainings.
 Ensure accurate data collection on community dialogue and male engagement activity outputs and act on data analysis to
ensure evidence-based changes are implemented.
 In close collaboration with the Nutrition Coordinator, MEAL officer, conduct formative research and conduct outcome
monitoring on community dialogue and male engagement activities.
 Contribute to documenting experiences, preparing reports, presentations, briefs and articles for publication/success stories
 Build the capacity of IYCF Assistants, CNVs and ensure quality of the performance at community level

Education & Experience


 Degree in Social Sciences, Development studies, Adult and Community education with extensive practical experience of not
less than 3 years implementing community engagement interventions. Master’s degree in the related field will an added
advantage.
 Past experience in community mobilization and management of community level activities Prior training on gender theory
and work on gender issues a significant plus
 Past experience preferable with a busy NGO implementing Health or Social Change related activities in Northern Region.
 Experience in gender and gender norms is desirable
 She/he should possess good facilitation skills with knowledge on adult learning approaches; because the position entails
working with illiterate communities to help them learn, adopt and sustain new behaviours
 This position requires a person who is self-starter, who can accomplish the task with minimal or no supervision.
 He/she must be keen on details and well organized individual.
 Must have motorcycle riding skills with a valid and clean permit and be willing to access communities by motorcycle

Job Title: Nutrition Assistant (01)


Position Type: Contract
Location: Palabek Resettlement camp
Reports to: Project Coordinator
Contract Length: 10 months Renewable upon satisfactory performance
Supervision Areas: Data clerks and Community Nutrition Volunteers
Start Date: March 2021

Job Summary:

Support the management of nutrition related health activities and cases through supporting patients, advising mothers on nutrition and
working with the Nutritionist to ensure improved awareness and proper management of malnutrition cases.

Duties & Responsibilities


 Support admission and discharge of malnutrition cases following properly laid down standards
 Actively participate in the community outreach activities for sensitization, nutritional awareness, screening and enrolment
into various programs of children < 5 years, pregnant and lactating mothers.
 Prepare and support the feeding of malnutrition patients under observation in the paediatric wards.
 Responsible for case management of malnourished patients and ensure that all routine medication is administered
appropriately
 Build capacity and advise in-patients/parents/guardians on proper care and nutrition at home.
 Build the Capacity of VHTs and CNVs in Nutritional screening, case detection and referral.
 Carry out home visits as a follow up on discharged patients to ensure adherence to advise
 Weigh and take height of children under the age of five to monitor and ensure early detection of malnutrition cases
 Ensure all malnourished children have child health cards and that their immunization is up to date.
 Carry out routine growth monitoring activities.
 Ensure all stored food is safe and free from contamination and theft.
 Ensure the kitchen and surrounding environment is clean, hygienic and well maintained.
 Conduct cooking demonstrations for preparing balanced, hygienic and nutritionally rich foods for children below 5 years.
 Prepare and submit malnutrition reports from both in- patient and out- patient departments.
 Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Education & Experience:
 Diploma Nutrition/Food Science Technology degree; Public Health or Human Nutrition.
 Experience in Nutritional Assessments and working in a humanitarian context.
 Minimum of three years of experience required.
 Must have excellent communications skills, both oral and written.
 Must have motorcycle riding skills with a valid and clean permit and be willing to access communities by motorcycle

Job Title: Data Clerk (01)


Position Type: Contract
Location: Palabek Resettlement Camp
Reports to: Nutrition Assistant
Contract Length: 10 months Renewable upon satisfactory performance
Supervision Areas: None
Start Date: March 2021

Duties and Responsibilities

 Maintains database by entering new and updated beneficiaries’ information.


 Prepares source data for computer entry by compiling and sorting information.
 Establishes entry priorities
 Ensure all beneficiary data is kept in hard and soft copies to minimize loss.
 Attend to each data tool independently without missing any detail
 Ensure maximum confidentiality of the information in the data tolls.
 Ensure proper handling of the data
 Cross checks entered data to ensure data quality and completeness
 Runs consistency quality checks and make edits as appropriate
 Make routine backups.
 Assist in community sensitization and mobilization of various project activities.
Education & Experience
 Bachelor's degree/Diploma in: Statistics, Biostatistics, Quantitative Economics, Education, Social work, Health, Nutrition, or
any other approved field of study from a recognized university. Training in Monitoring and Evaluation, records management
is an added advantage.
 A minimum of two (2) years’ practical field experience working with complex data entries, Participation in surveys and
project evaluation activities.
 Must have motorcycle riding skills with a valid and clean permit and be willing to access communities by motorcycle
