General Instructions:
(i). All questions are compulsory.
(ii). This question paper contains 20 questions divided into four Sections A, B, C and D.
(iii). Section A comprises of 10 questions of 1 mark each. Section B comprises of 3 questions of 2
marks each. Section C comprises of 4 questions of 3 marks each and Section D comprises of 3
questions of 4 marks each.
(iv). There is no overall choice. However, an internal choice has been provided in one question of 2
marks each, one question of 3 marks each and one question of 4 marks each. You have to attempt
only one of the alternatives in all such questions.
(v). Use of Calculators is not permitted

SECTION – A
Questions 1 to 10 carry 1 mark each.
1. A vertical pole of length 20 m casts a shadow 10 m long on the ground and at the same time a
tower casts a shadow 50 m long, then the height of the tower.

value of BC.

9. If tan9 = cot and 9 < 900, then find the value of cosec5.

10. Find the coordinates of a point A, where AB is the diameter of a circle whose centre is (2, – 3)
and B is (1, 4).

17. The x-coordinate of a point P is twice its y-coordinate. If P is equidistant from the points Q(2, –
5) and R(–3, 6), find the coordinates of P.

Find the ratio in which the y-axis divides the line segment joining the points (5, – 6) and (–1, –
4). Also find the point of intersection.

SECTION – D
Questions 18 to 20 carry 4 marks each.

18. Two poles of equal heights are standing opposite each other on either side of the road, which is
80 m wide. From a point between them on the road, the angles of elevation of the top of the poles
are 60° and 30°, respectively. Find the height of the poles and the distances of the point from the
poles.

19. Prove that “In a right triangle, the square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of
the other two sides.
