I. Purpose
Prevention of the termite from reaching the super-structure of the building and its
contents can be achieved by creating a chemical barrier between the ground, from
where the termites come and other contents of the building which may form food for
the termites. This is achieved by treating the soil beneath the building and around
the foundation with a suitable insecticide,

Product technical Data sheet & MSDS of Chemical
Find enclosed the procedure to be followed for pre- construction Anti Termite treatment.
I. Chemical to be used:
Chloropyrifos 20 % EC @ 50 ml per litte of water respectively and the dilution shall he

Or Equivalents (subjected to prior approval)
II. Work Procedure
‘Treatment of Top Surface of Plinth
illing
‘The top surface of the consolidated earth within plinth walls shall be treated with
chemical at the rate of 5 lit,/Sqm ot as per manufacturer specification, of the surface
before the sand bed or sub-grade is laid.
If the filled earth has been well rammed and the surface does not allow the emulsion to
Seep through, holes up to 50 mm to 75 mi deep at 150 mm centzes both ways may be
‘made with 12 mm diameter mild steel fod or other suitable means on the surface to
facilitate saturation of the soil with the emulsion.
‘Treatment at junctions of the walls and the floors :
Special care shall be taken to establish continuity of the vertical soil and barrier on inner
wall surfaces from ground level up to the level of the filled earth surfaces, To achieve
this, a small channel 30mm x 30mm, shall be made at all the junctions of wall and
column with the floor(before laying the sub grade) the rod holes made in the channel up
to the ground level, 150 mm apart and the iron rod of 12mm diameter shall be moved
back ward and forward to break up the earth and chemical emulsion poured along the
wall @ 755 litre/sqm or as pet manufacturer specification of vertical walls or coluran- Methodology for Anti Termite Treatment

‘Treatment of Soil Along External Perimeter of Building
After the building is complete, the earth along the external perimeter of the building will
be rodded at intervals of 150 mm and to a depth of 300 mm from top. The rods will be
moved backward and forward parallel to the wall to break up the earth and emulsion
poured along the wall at the rate of 7.5/Sqm or as per manufacturer specification of the
vertical surface. After the treatment, the earth will be tamped back into place
‘Treatment of Soil Surrounding Pipes, Wastes and Conduits
When pipes, wastes and conduits enter the soil inside area of the foundations, soil
surrounding the point of entry will be loosened around each such pipe, waste or conduit
for a distance of 150 mm and to a depth of 150 mm before treatment is commenced.
‘Treatment for Expansion Joints
‘The soil beneath expansion joints will be treated through the expansion joints after the
sub-grade has been laid, at the rate of 2 Lit,/linear metre ot as pet manufacturer
specification. aia 2
IV. _ Safety Precautions
Chemical used for ant termite treatment are insecticides with a persistent action and
are highly poisonous. This chemical can have an adverse effect upon health when
absorbed through the skin, inhaled as vapours or spray mists or swallowed, MSDS
should be followed during activity to avoid the hazards,
Ensure the personnel are provided with appropriate PPE (Safety shoe, Helmet with
chin strap, Nose musk, Hand Gloves etc.).
* HIRA’ to be maintained regularly.
Covid-19 protocol shall be maintained as per latest directives/guidelines of
Central/State Government.
Any other relevant precautions as may be necessary as per provisions of approved
Project ESG & HSE Plan.
