 SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDG)

Sustainable Development goals are universal sets of targets and indicators that
UN state will be expected to frame their agendas, policies and principles over the
next fifteen years.

 Need of SDGs

There is board agreement that while the millennium development goals (MDG)
provide a focal point to government, a framework around which they develop
policies and other aid programmes designed to end poverty and improves
standard of living of poor people.

 Eight pillars of SDG


1. Reduce poverty and hunger
2. Universal education
3. Promote gender equality
4. Child and maternal deaths
5. Combat HIV, malaria and other diseases
6. Ensure environmental sustainability
7. Develop global partnership
8. Better standard of living to poor ones

 Sustainable development goals 2015:

After the year 2001 the renewal of SDG was done in order to improve economic
and social stability in the society at large. Sustain development goals 2015 was
proposed in the year 2015
With its 17 pillars.

 17 Pillars of SDG 2015


1. No Poverty: Eradication of poverty from all aspects i.e. its forms from
everywhere.
2. Zero Hunger: Better food supply, achievement of food security and improved
nutrition and promote sustain agriculture (End of hunger).
3. Good health and well being: Ensure healthy lives and better standard of living,
promote wellbeing to others.
4. Quality education: Ensure equitable quality education and promote lifelong
learning opportunities.
5. Gender Equality: Achieve gender equality and promote women empowerment
in the society.
6. Clean water and Sanitation: Ensure availability and sustainable management of
water and sanitation for all the levels of people.
7. Affordable and Clean energy: Ensure access to affordable, reliable,
sustainable and modern energy for all
8. Decent work and Economic growth: Promote sustainable economic growth,
full and productive employment and decent employment for all.
9. Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure: Better infrastructure, promote
sustainable industrialization and foster innovation.
10. Reduced Inequalities: Reduce inequality within and among countries.
11. Sustainable cities and communities: Make cities and human settlement safe,
resilient and sustainable.
12. Responsible consumption and production: Ensure sustainable consumption
and better production patterns.
13. Climate action: Take urgent and preventive action to combat climate change
and its impacts.
14. Life Below water: Conservation of the use of seas, oceans and marine
resources for sustainable development.
15. Life on land: Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial
ecosystems, sustainably mange forests, combat desertification and reverse land
degradation and halt biodiversity loss.
16. Peace, Justice and strong institutions: Promote peace and provide access to
justice for all and build effective, accountable and institutions at all levels.
17. Partnerships for the goals: Strengthen the means of implementation and
revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
