Module 1:
•Globalization
- as the process of world shrinkage, of distances gettting shorter, things
moving closer (Thomas Larson,2001)
•Definitions of globalization :
Broad and Inclusive -
Narrow and Exclusive
*definitions deals with either economic,political or social dimensions

Module 2:
Homogeneity - The theory of homogeneity refers to the increasing sameness in the
world as cultural inputs, economic factors, and political orientations of societies
expand to create common practices, same economies, and similar form of government.

Media Imperialism - the global flow of media; of existing theories about


international communication

Cultural Imperialism - denies the agency of viewers, but people around the world
often interpret the same medium(eg. movie) in significantly different ways

Global media - dominated by small number of large corporations such Microsoft, Fb,
Twitter, Google

Hacktivist - a person who gains unauthorized access to computer files or networks


in order to further social or political ends;

McDonaldization -McDonaldization is the process by which Western societies are


dominated by the principle of fast food restaurants. It involves the global spread
of rational systems, such as efficiency, calculability, predictability and control.

Heterogeneity - Heterogeneity, with the use of the “hetero” that means “different”.
It pertains to the creation of various cultural practices, new economies, and
political groups because of the interaction of elements from the different
societies in the world.
