Calculation of Modified G and T Parameters For The Ring Stiffened Joints (As Per Ueg)

This document describes the calculation of modified g and t parameters for ring stiffened joints according to UEG standards. It outlines two methods for calculating section properties of joints with multiple stiffeners and explains that method a, which considers each stiffener individually, is followed as method b is only valid when stiffener spacing is less than the effective chord length. It then shows calculations to determine t and g modifiers (Kt and Kg) that account for the effect of a ring stiffener by increasing the effective chord thickness. These modifiers are used to modify the t and g values in parametric formulas for ring stiffened joints.

CALCULATION OF MODIFIED g AND t PARAMETERS FOR THE RING STIFFENED JOINTS (AS PER UEG)

Other Studies

1) For two & three ring stiffener cases, the calculation was performed as follows.
a) Section properties based on the effective width corresponding
to single stiffener (as shown in Figure 1).
b) Section properties based on the effective width corresponding to all
stiffeners (as shown in Figure 2).

As observed, the method (b) values depends mainly on the stiffener spacing. Method (b) is valid only when the
spacing between stiffeners is less than or equal to the effective chord length (1.1(DT)1/2). Hence
method (a) is followed in this spreadsheet.
