Definition of Lecture Method of Teaching

The lecture method of teaching is defined as a one-way communication where the teacher delivers information to students who listen and may take notes. It allows a large amount of content to be covered efficiently without equipment but it does not account for individual differences among students and can be difficult for students to follow or retain. While lectures develop listening skills, learning is an active process so students should be encouraged to participate rather than just listen.
