CONCEPTS)
Please answer the following questions and include the references.
1. Please answer the following questions below:
What is material handling, mechanical material handling, and
manual material handling and explain the differences from
one another?
Explain the factors that influence the selection of material handling
equipment?
What are the indicators of safe manual material handling?
Explain the different types of material handling equipments and how
each of them work
2. Find the journal or relevant source about the Celluveyor! Don't forget to
write down your sources (such as journal, books, etc) using the Harvard
Referencing Systems at the last page of the report.
Explain the problem background!
Analyze the case using 5W+1H!
What is the difference between a celluveyor and a conventional
conveyor!
3. Please choose one example of a type of product packaging (it can be a small
or large product), explain the application of the chosen example, and explain
the aspects of the quality dimensions that are included!
4. Quality inspection can be divided into 3 types of inspection, there are off-
line inspection, on- line inspection and on-line/post process inspection.
Describe the differences between the three types of inspection and provide
examples of their application!

1. A. Material handling : refers to the essential activities of moving, protecting, storing, and
controlling goods and items in the processing, warehousing, shipping, and disposal
processes.
Manual Material Handling : the development of objects that can be lifted, pushed,
pulled, and used in other physical activities
Mechanical Material Handling : more work by mechanical strengths for transportation,
such as conveyors and cranes, for stacking or emptying to a capacity location.
Different : When the goods and hardware arrive in large quantities, automatic
material handling is often used, as is the use of heavy vehicles such as lift trucks.
However, on the off possibility that there are only a few basic items to transport,
manual materials handling is often used.
B. 1. Material Characteristics, or the classification of the type of material used, is critical
since each shape necessitates a unique treatment.
2. Material handling must also pay attention to plant architecture, how a work area is
built and planned; with proper preparation, it is expected that optimum material transfer
outcomes will be achieved.
3. When deciding which type of equipment is best for a given material's characteristics,
considerations like flow rate, routing, and scheduling must be taken into account.
4. Unit Load Principle, the number of units treated at one time is referred to as a unit
load.
C. - Activity and movement of workers
- Layout of workplaces and work stations
- Position and work attitude
- The duration and frequency of workers doing MMH activities
- The distance and place where workers move the load
- Load weight
- etc.
D. 1. Transport, the five major categories of material transport equipment are (1) industrial
trucks, (2) automatic driven vehicles, (3) rail-guided vehicles, (4) conveyors, and (5) hoists
and cranes, which are used to carry goods inside the warehouse.
2. Positioning, equipment used to carry components in a particular area, such as loading
and unloading parts from a manufacturing system in a work cell, is known as positioning
equipment.
3. Equipment for storage, there are two types of storage methods and equipment: (1)
traditional storage methods and (2) automatic storage systems.
2. A. Due to volatile markets, commodity flow processes in factories and warehouses are now
marked by complex shifts. These problems can be met by a modern generation of small-
scale conveyor systems built on similar and intelligent components. The systems can be used
in complex conveying applications due to their omnidirectional capabilities. Intelligent

control strategies are necessary for precise movements. This paper addresses various
control mechanisms, including a vision-based guidance system for maintaining adequate
content flow on the conveyor. An exceptional small-scaled conveyor system was used to
assess the approaches.
B. What : The location and orientation of the objects were determined by evaluating camera
depth images in this article, which resulted in a closed loop control scheme.
Why : To answer the commodity flow processes problems, modern generation of small-
scale conveyor systems was built.
Who : Celluveyor maker (project)
Where : Italy
When : This conference was held on 18-20 July 2018
How : Object identification and monitoring are used to determine the location, direction,
and measurements of objects as they are being tracked. Owing to distortion in depth picture
and vision, the object detection has a 5cm error margin on the conveyor system's edges.
3. Mineral bottle packaging is an example of packaging. The bottle is used in the primary
packaging, which is a direct packaging material for f&b ingredients, depending on the type.
This mineral bottle is sold in single-use packaging due to the amount of use. Single-use
packaging is described as packaging that is used once and then discarded.
4. - Off-Line Inspection = inspection that occurs after the manufacturing phase has been
completed; the most common way is to obtain a sample from the manufacturing process.
- On-line Inspection = this inspection can be done in two ways (in-process or after the
fact). Since this inspection is carried out whilst the manufacturing process is running,
sensors are normally used to process these production findings for in-process
inspections.
