Our services The load induced by the dead loads and environmental loads on the jacket was transferred to the piles using the integrated
plate assembly which comprised of yoke plate and shear plate. The piles are 1829 mm OD and the sleeves are 2032 mm
OD x 25 mm WT. The load transfer is achieved through the annulus grout.
The sleeve is about 15 meter in length, extending from EL (-) 74.37 (mud line) to EL (-) 59.673 m. The connection between
the skirt sleeve and the jacket legs consists of a shear plate along the full length of the sleeve and the two yoke plates, one
each at EL (-) 59.673 m and EL (-) 74.37 m. An intermediate stiffener plate was provided at EL (-) 67.022 to reduce the
buckling length of the shear plate. Two additional shear plates are provided on the external side of middle shear plate, from
EL (-) 74.770 to EL (-) 72.670. The spacing between the skirt sleeve and the jacket leg at mudline is fixed at 2.20 meters.
Considering the jacket batter of 1:10, this spacing works out to be 3.67 meters at EL (-) 59.673 m.
The pile assembly that was studied is pile P3 i.e. pile at column B1 as shown in Fig. 1. More details on the configuration
can be referred to Fig. 2.

3.0 Global Analysis
The main purpose of the global analysis of the jacket is to extract the forces for each element connected to the pile
assembly studied i.e. pile P3, which is to be analyzed in the local analysis.
3.1 Finite Element Model
The jacket was modeled up to EL (-) 15700. The jacket was then fixed in all 6 directions at the top most joints at EL (-)
15700. The model was generated using the preprocessor in ABAQUS version 5.5 and is shown in Fig. 3.
In the global analysis, the yoke plate and the shear plate were idealized using equivalent properties. The shear plate was
idealized as 4 diagonal members i.e. 762 mm OD x 81 WT. pipe. The yoke plate was idealized as an equivalent effective T-
section. En order to simplify the model, a pipe size of 914 mm OD x 46 WT. was adopted for the analysis. The pile sleeve

and the pile were modeled as an equivalent pipe size of 2270 OD x 50 WT.. Conservatively, the moment of inertia due to
grouting was ignored. In the analysis, the material used was high strength steel pipe with a yield strength of 345 MPa.
3.2 Analysis Procedure
The pile head forces were extracted from previous inplace analysis results. The reaction forces were taken from six load
cases, three sets of loading from the inplane, out of plane and diagonal wave directions in operating condition, and
similarly from the storm conditions. The load conditions are as listed in Table 1 and the wave directions are as given in Fig.
1, The reactions obtained were in piles local axis.
After a careful axis transformation, the forces were input into the newly created jacket model in ABAQUS. The forces were
applied globally at ail the pile heads. Then, a static analysis was performed on the model. The analysis was done for all the
six loading cases. The element forces obtained from the analysis were used in the subsequent local analysis of the
integrated plate assembly [2].
3.3 Results
The member stresses obtained were less when compared to previous inplace analysis performed. Earlier analysis were
performed in detail, taking into account also the bending moment induced by the wave forces on the jacket structure.
However, in this analysis only the axial forces due to the pile head forces acted on the structural members. Lower stresses
obtained in this global analysis indicate that the results obtained are within the range of accuracy.
