Comparisons of PerkinElmer FTNIR and
Dispersive Monochromator NIR
• Fourier Transform FTNIR Spectroscopy Technology
• All frequencies are measured simultaneously, single scan more rapid.
• No monochromator and slit system, higher energy throughput and higher S/N ratio.
• Laser wavelength is used, accurate wavenumber and excellent repeatability.
• No stray light issue.
• Resolution is constant across spectrum.
• No grating or filter changes, no discontinuities in the FTIR spectra.
• Re-calibration models are not necessary.
• Easy in software operation and calibration.
• Low maintenance and consumable costs, laser is changed every 5-10 years, source is changed
every 2-3 years.

• Dispersive Monocrhomator NIR Spectroscopy Technology

• Scan continuously and sequentially due to grating system, slower in single scan.
• Monochromator and slit system, low energy throughput and lower S/N ratio.
• Stray light issue due to monochromator is used.
• Slit system resulted variable resolution in spectrum.
• Discontinuities in spectra due to grating or filter changes.
• Complicated in software operation and calibration.
• Re-calibration models are needed at 3-6 month interval
• High maintainace and consumable costs, Tungsten lamp is replaced every 6 months
