Praxis Core Exam Analysis
Exam Requirements
Anyone who is looking for a degree in education must pass the Praxis Core Exam.
Colleges and universities use the Praxis Core Exam to evaluate, measure our knowledge and
skills before entry into the education programs. I need to pass the Praxis Core Exam to enter the
Secondary Education Program at UNLV and to continue on with my bachelor’s degree in
education. The passing score for the Praxis Core Exam in the state of Nevada is as follows: The
passing score for Math is 150, The passing score for Reading is 156. The passing score for
Writing is 162.
Exam Preparation
I did not prepare for the Praxis Core Exam and it showed. I skimmed through some of the
sites to kind of get a feel of what to expect. I wanted to see where I stood at in all three subjects
without the test preparation help. This turned out to be a big mistake. If I would have just taken
time to use some of the resources that were provided for me, maybe I would have done better on
the exams.
Exam Results
In Reading, I scored a 45%. This means that I need significant improvement. In writing I
scored a 60%. This mean that I need improvement. In math, I scored a 77%. This means that I
am borderline passing. If I were to take the actual Praxis Core Exam, I would likely fail all three
exams.
Future Exam Preparation
These exam results serve as a reminder of “It’s not where you start, it’s how you finish”.
I realize that I need to study more to pass the Praxis Core exam. I will purchase study books for
the exam in all fields of study, take advantage of some free online Praxis Core help preparation
and seek out a personal tutor from my college/university.
