Abstract

The Console Wars makes for a very violent series of conflicts between fans and organizations
alike. Each company and its fans bash each other in an attempt to express how superior their
favorite console is over the others. Our goal is to find out what console is objectively better.
After some research, we have come to the conclusion that the Playstation 5 is in fact better from
both a technological standpoint and a functional one.

Introduction
On March 24th, 2021, Senior Vice President, Head of worldwide marketing and consumer
experience, Eric Lempel asked the team to evaluate the strengths of the PS5 and possible
avenues for advertising this product.

Right now, the team has a good amount of information already since the product has been out for
two quartiles now, but in retrospect, that isn’t a long time so the team’s researchers need to go
out and gather new information as well as reflect on the current information to see where our
work and effort is most needed on.

Purpose
The purpose of this report is to ultimately bring an end to the Console Wars that have been going
on for years by promoting Sony's Playstation 5 and discouraging other products that don’t quite
make the cut. We will be presenting the things that Sony did right when developing the PS5 that
its competitors didn’t.

Problem
The reason we are evaluating the consoles is because of the console wars, a series of violent
online conflicts between the communities of Playstation, Xbox, and Nintendo. We want to come
to the conclusion that one of these consoles is actually better than the others with a particular
focus on Playstation because of their recent technological advancement and innovation. From
this we will hopefully end the console wars by showing how much more advanced the
Playstation is and furthermore bring a peaceful end to the console wars.

 Benefits
We have researched the PS5’s advantages and have found information that is sure to help you
come to a conclusion when deciding what console to buy. The benefits that the PS5 offers far
outweighs the benefits that the Xbox series X and series S has. Research shows that the PS5
controller has 6-12 hours of battery life. The PS5 controller charges to full in 3 hours while in
rest mode, this makes sense because of the superior charging system PS5 allows. There are more
than 220 Playstation exclusive games in the market, all of which can be played and enjoyed on
the PS5 thanks to the introduction of backwards compatibility. The PS5 provides 60-120 frames
per second, which makes sense for how much it can run at the same time. The price is great
considering how much the product is in terms of quality. The resolution of the PS5 is designed
for 4K which is very good for its 60-120fps. The physical size of the PS5 is rather large but not
as large as the Xbox series X in terms of total surface area. The size of the PS5 is understandable
due to just how much it can do. How else would something that looks and holds such greatness
have such a small body. In the PS5’s storage, it can hold 825 GB. Lastly, the PS5 is only 8.6
pounds which makes sense for its superior design.

Features
The Playstation 5 has two different variations. Digital and a physical. The digital variation of the
PS5 does not come with a disk drive so you cannot play games that are physical copy, rather you
would have to purchase games via the online Playstation store. The physical variation of the PS5
comes with a drive that will allow you to play games that are physical copy as well as allowing
you to download digital games from the online store. The Playstation 5 DualSense controller is
the most technologically advanced gaming controller on the market. The controller has adaptive
triggers that will adjust the tension of the triggers based on what game is being played. The
haptics have been improved to make the controller’s vibrations far more accurate. With these
features, you will be able to really immerse yourself in what you are playing. The DuelSense also
brings back the touchpad from the PS4 controller, a gyroscope for motion controls, and a built-in
speaker.

Cost
The Digital version of the Playstation is, as we’re sure you already guessed, is cheaper than the
Physical version. The digital version sits at a price of $399 while the physical version is $499.
The price of a Playstation 5 controller sits at around $50 to $70 depending on where you buy it.

Conclusion
The team’s goals are to help end the Console Wars. That is why we are pushing towards Sony’s
Playstation 5. With all the current information received, we will push for Sony’s Playstation 5
console and proceed to declare its dominance against all other consoles.
