SCHOOL UNIFORMS

Schools choose to make their students wear uniforms for a variety of reasons. This decision
has been a source of major debate for years. So what are the main benefits and drawbacks of having school
uniforms?

The main advantage of uniforms is that it unifies all students, regardless of their cultural, religious, and
financial background. This means that children who come from poor families no longer have to feel
excluded because they can not afford designer clothes. As a result, uniforms will improve pupils
individuality because they will have to express themselves through their personality and attitude, rather
than through a brand name pair of jeans or an expensive pair of shoes. Another benefit is that wearing
uniforms allows more time for studying. Students do not have to plan their outfits the night before or in the
morning, which saves them a lot of time. This way individuals can focus on their studies instead of such
insignificant things as clothes.

However, there a multiple disadvantages of having school uniforms. A serious drawback is that it is difficult
for low-income families to afford uniforms every passing year, especially if they have more than one child.
This puts a lot of strain on their budget. Another argument against is that school uniforms impose
uniformity and make students a mass of faceless children without any individuality. Besides, they can also
make students unimaginative.

To sum up, while uniforms may have a few benefits regarding better academic performances, there are
major drawbacks. I believe that allowing students to choose their outfits will have better outcomes in the
long run.
