Context

Situation:

This is your first year as leader of your neighborhood board; lately, you have thought about not
continuing with this job because some of the residents have been calling you constantly to complain
about the cleanliness of the common areas, the lack of security, and the poor lighting in the
neighborhood.

You have been very patient and you are always willing to listen to your community, and as such you
have even received calls at dawn from complaining neighbors. As much as you have tried to help and
pay attention to them in a cordial way, you question whether continuing with this commitment is
worthwhile since you feel worn down.

You have always been aware of the responsibility that comes with living in a community and, being a
new neighborhood, it needs people who want to participate and be open-minded like you.

Based on the case context, we have some elements that reflect the type of person we are,
and most importantly, that we are aware of who we are.

Am I really the way I think I am? Yes, there's coherence between the role we have taken in
the community based on our skills, how we act and on what we think we are.

Am I aware of my emotions and what causes them? Yes, we have identified the reasons that
have worn down our emotions in contrast with how we feel.

a good manage and understand of our emotions, that could impact positively on the results
of a work performance, in this case the community role we are performing.

Self-Diagnosis Based on Social Intelligence

How do I manage my emotions towards others? We know we act in the best possible way,
we are cordial, pay attention, meaning we practice active listening, among emphatic listening
to socialize and solve problems. The position that we are part of

Action Plan

Approaching the PERMA model, an action plan was created to help us on the decision
making process of the role we have in the community:

Take into account the positive emotions our role in the

P Positive Emotions community has, such as the: recognize, gratefulness of the
people, compromise and friendship.

Involve with the community, suggest activities in which

people can dialogue, set their affairs, and determine the
E Engagement
possible solutions to the problem in a team work with a
leader that can guide the projects.

Working on the relationships between the neighbors, we

can infer the community has delegated the problems to
R Positive Relationships
one person, and has not explored options such as creating
relationships to reach the goals.

Volunteers, donations and other activities that help others,

create meaning, and this kind of activities could help the
M Meaning
community to be more a group of friends than unknown
people that live in the same street.

Make a list of the things to do, and prioritize them. Make

A Accomplishment subtasks to understand how to accomplish them and the
steps to take action and solve the problem.
