Course Description: This course will provide general understanding about the most important elements of the study of the humanities. Art
Appreciation as a course, attempts to develop students the ability to appreciate, scrutinize, and appraise works of art.
Learning Outcomes (LOs)
Graduate Attributes At the end of the course, the students will be able to:
LO1: Expert Learner Understand the role of humanities and arts in man’s attempt at fully realizing his end, Clarify Misconceptions on
Art
identify the subject matter and content of specific examples of art
LO2: Critical and Creative Characterize the Assumptions of Arts and Engage better with Personal Experiences of and in Art
Thinker Distinguish between directly functional and indirectly functional art, Explain and discuss the basic philosophical
perspectives on the art,
Differentiate representational art and non-representational art, Discuss the difference between an artwork’s
subject and its content,
LO3: Fluent and Effective Discuss the meaning of Art and When do we encounter Art
Communicator Explain the types of Drama and elements of Drama
Explain the relevance of the elements and principles of art in the study of art and its products (artworks), and
Illustrate examples of hybrid art and dissect what art forms are combined therein
LO4: Expert Doer Realize the function of some art forms in daily life and Apply concepts and theories on beauty and aesthetics in
real life scenarios
LO5: Expert Self Differentiate Art from Nature, Characterize artistic expression based on personal experiences with art,

discuss significant historical events that informed and inspired the different movements under contemporary art
