WHAT I HAVE
LEARNED
Name the five steps in planning. Is there a particular step that could
be bypassed or eliminated? Explain your answer.
1. Define your goals by identifying desired outcomes in every specific ways.
2. Determine where you stand in relation to set goals; know your strengths and
weaknesses.
3. Develop premises regarding future conditions; anticipate future events, generate
alternative scenarios for what may happen; identify for each scenario the things that
may help or hinder progress toward your goals.
4. Analyze and choose among action alternatives; list and carefully evaluate possible
actions and choose the alternative most likely to accomplish goals.
5. Implement the plan and evaluate results; take corrective action and revise plans as
needed.
No, there’s no particular step that can be eliminated because each and every step has own
importance. It can be the foundation to help you to ease and to facilitate what you are doing
as long as you’re following them. And having a plan helps you define a project’s full scope,
but it also allows you to remain focused, set priorities and goals, meet deadlines and
achieve your goals successfully.
