Water Pollution Essay

Water pollution is a major global problem that has been increasing since the industrial revolution. Rising water temperatures are changing ocean currents and melting glaciers, while groundwater pollution threatens a key source of fresh water. Oil spills from rigs, tankers and pipelines contaminate waterways and are difficult to clean up, harming wildlife. While the environmental damage of the past century will be hard to undo, adapting human activities and developing new technologies could help address water pollution if actions are taken quickly.

Water Pollution

Water pollution is one of the biggest problems in the world. It has been a concern about how
to fix it for years, as well as air pollution, global warming and many others. Because the only
way to make a big difference, is by making a lot of small differences until you get to the big
difference. Three of the biggest water pollutions are oil spilling, groundwater pollution and
water temperature rising.
Water pollution has been rising a lot since the industrial revolution. Since then the water
temperature has been rising. According to the book called “Pollution” Chapter 3, it says the
because of that temperature rising, Ocean’s currents around the world have changed their
flow, some might thing that’s not a big deal, but it is indeed. Glaciers have been melting and the
water level have raised in from past years. The El Nino has occurred more times then ever in
the past century. The water temperature mostly rises because of the excess of carbon dioxide
released in the air and making the ozone carapace smaller and more sun ultra violet rays goes
in the earths surface and water. And we can reduce that with greenhouses.
Not just that but one of the world biggest clean water recourses is from groundwater. As
mentioned in the “environment pollution center website” it says that Groundwater is being
polluted because of the soil pollution, which is a big problem because to stop the water
pollution we are going to have to stop ground pollution as well, and its not going to be easy.
However, there is ways to reduce this kind of pollution. One of them is by making the water’s
well deeper, so that there is less chance of polluting the water they take from the well.
Oil rigs is a big thing in the human “ecosystem”, No oil no gas. In the “Wikipedia website
quotes” - “Oil spill is the release of a liquid petroleum hydrocarbon into the environment”,
witch means is the release of crude oil from tankers, offshore platforms, drilling rigs and wells in
the ocean and land. Oil can have disastrous consequences in the environment, by effecting
plants, animals and clean water. For example, oil can penetrate the structure of the plumage of
birds and the fur of mammals. Cleanup and recovery from an oil spill is difficult and expensive.
However, microorganisms such as fusobacteria species can be an innovative potential for future
oil spill cleanups. because of their ability to colonize and degrade oil slicks on the sea
surface.
In conclusion, it can be said that its going to be hard to fix the damage that humans have
done from the last century, but it is possible to fix. We just got to figure new way to adapt our
society to the new world, because nothing may happen in the next 20 years. But I’m sure if we
don’t do anything, the nest 50 years will be devastating. Humans will understand the power of
mother nature when you change the way its suppose to be.
