Jose Rizal His Education and Career

Rizal attended Ateneo de Manila where he excelled as a student leader and original thinker. He won awards for his poetry and mastered Spanish under the tutelage of Father Sanchez. Although Father Villacara thought Rizal wasted his time on poetry, it was an important part of Rizal's development. After Ateneo, Rizal enrolled at the University of Santo Tomas, but found the Dominican professors hostile and the education outdated and repressive, causing him to struggle academically.
