2.0 QUALITY OBJECTIVES OF THE ORGANIZATION
At FurniHome Sdn. Bhd., an Occupational Health and Safety Management System
was developed and implemented to document the best health and safety practices of the
company, better meet the requirements and expectations of its stakeholders, and improve the
overall management of the company. FurniHome Sdn. Bhd. has recognised the external and
internal problems that are important and that influence her ability to produce the expected
outcomes of the OH&S management framework in order to truly appreciate the organization
and its substance.
This manual is used internally to direct the staff of the company on the ISO quality
standards that must be followed and retained to monitor and impact the ways in which
workers are shielded from injuries and ill-health at work. Both systems have the capacity for
risk. They must be calculated in order to accurately mitigate threats. However, it is not
feasible to completely eradicate the risk for significant accidents. The user and the
community in the service of hazardous materials facilities will face different effects that need
to be addressed before the right decision can be taken as a predictive tool for risk
management and to define areas for cost-effective risk mitigation.
SIRIM is Malaysia's leading industrial science and technology organisation, wholly
owned by the Ministry of Finance Incorporated. SIRIM is mandated as the machinery for
science and technological development, and the national champion of consistency, with over
forty years of experience and expertise. SIRIM has always played a major role in the
country's private sector growth. SIRIM has helped Malaysian goods and services to attain due
recognition worldwide in terms of quality and innovation. SIRIM provides specialised
products to meet the needs of all segments of the market, including its competitive
advantages in science and technological advancement, industry standards and efficiency,
rendering it the ideal partner for innovation.
In Malaysia, prior to a thorough risk appraisal, a bill was enacted to ban the settlement
and construction of large hazardous material facilities. Adequate awareness, the ability to
anticipate, identify and assess significant risks are therefore essential for the acceptance of
chemical process facilities involving explosive, flammable and harmful materials, especially
for employees, policy makers or divisions involved. This is to ensure that sufficient
3
precautions can be taken at the early level of furniture design to monitor and avoid injuries.
The organization's priorities or targets for the credential are :
Providing a clean and secure environment to reduce injuries or ill health due to employment.
1. Developing the management system as a mechanism to defend the needs of staff and
company and not simply to follow the norm.
2. To incorporate Occupational Health & Safety into its corporate operations, leading to
injury prevention and long-term and short-term ill health consequences.
3. Providing a framework for tracking and updating regulatory responsibilities to ensure
that the company, including goods and services, is legally compliant.
4. Implementation also acknowledges the achievement of an international quality
benchmark that will have a significant effect on current and future consumers in
meeting their own corporate responsibility responsibilities.
5. To have beneficial benefits on the image of a company as a healthy place to operate
that contributes to retention of workers, engagement and higher productivity.
6. To encourage worker engagement by integrating safeguards integrated with other
company procedures when detecting risks, removing or reducing risk.

5.0 SCOPE OF QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Refer to this Occupational Health and Safety Management System Certification -ISO
45001: 2018, our company has listed out some of the Standard Operating Procedure that
needed and relates to this qualification in order to obtain this certificate. According to ISO
45001: 2018 , Malaysian Standard, Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) management
system - Requirement (first version) HIRARC process was the basic part that should have in
a company to get the certification. So , in our company we are more focused on the HIRARC
process such as we did it twice per year. Our company also makes sure that our records are
always in the up to date condition and our company also makes sure that all of the workers
know the difference between risk and hazard by making the safety campaign at the workplace
regularly.
Besides, to fulfil the requirement to obtain this certificate, our company also does an
emergency prevention preparedness and response in order to make sure all of our workers are
alert and know how to react to the emergency situation. We provide training to all of the
workers at least once a month. For example, we produce trainers from Jabatan Bomba
Malaysia to train workers about fire safety . So that the workers become alert and know the
step action that should be taken during an emergency situation and we also periodically tested
where practicable and periodically reviewed when necessary.
8
Next, our company also has done a management review where the top management of
the company has reviewed the organization OH&S management system to ensure its
continuing suitibility, adequacy and its effectiveness. For example we did a safety committee
meeting twice per month to ensure that top management knew the issues related to safety and
the available taking action needed to overcome it.
According to the guideline, it is also necessary for our company to make an audit such
as the internal audit to evaluate the company interval control. This audit is to ensure that our
company is compliant with laws and regulations. It also helps to maintain an accurate and
timely financial reporting and data collections. That means, before our company gets the
certification from SIRIM, our company is already being prepared with this internal audit
before the external audit is done by SIRIM.
Finally, our company also needs to do an action of improvement where our company
will follow up our record and take immediate action to solve the problem. That is why all of
the documented HIRARC reports and audit reports are important things that our company
focuses on to prevent any accident or emergency from happening at the workplace. So that, it
can be said that our company is well prepared and ready to get the certification from SIRIM.
