Notice To Centres Revised Version of The Specimen Assessment Materials

This notice informs heads of classics departments about revisions made to the specimen assessment materials for several GCSE classics exams. The format of some literature exam questions has been changed based on center feedback. Additionally, the marking grids for all units will be updated starting in January 2012. Subject: GCSE Latin (J281), GCSE Latin (Short Course) (J081), GCSE Classical Greek (J291) and GCSE
Classical Greek (Short Course) (J091)

REVISED VERSION OF THE SPECIMEN ASSESSMENT MATERIALS

In response to centre feedback over the first two years of the new specifications, we have made some
changes to the format of some of the questions on the literature units. Examination papers for these units
(A403/01, A403/02, A404/01, A404/02, B403 and B404) will follow the format of the revised specimen
assessment materials from June 2012.

We have also made amendments to the marking grids for all units. These grids will be used for marking from
January 2012 (Units A401 and A402 only) and from June 2012 (all other units).

The updated specimen assessment materials can be downloaded from www.ocr.org.uk (navigate to
Qualifications/By Type/GCSE (from 2009)/Classics).

Vertical black lines indicate a significant change to the previous printed version.

There are no changes to the specification.
