27. The shadow of a tower standing on a level ground is found to be 40mt
longer when the sun’s altitude is 300 than when it is 600. Find the height of

32. A) Ganesh an engineering student, was asked to make a model shaped like a
cylinder with two cones attached at its two ends by using a thin
aluminium sheet. The diameter of the model is 3cm and its length
is 12cm. If each cone has a height of 2cm, find the volume of air
contained in the model that Ganesh made. (Assume the outer and inner
dimensions of the model to be nearly the same)
OR
B) A tent is in the shape of a cylinder surmounted by a conical top. If the
height and diameter of the cylindrical part are 2.1 mt and 4mt
respectively and the slant height of the top is 2.8mt, find the area of the
canvas used for making the tent. Also, find the cost of ₹500 per m2.
(Note that the base of the tent will not be covered with canvas).
33. A sum of ₹700 is to be used to give seven cash prizes to students of a school
for their overall academic performance. If each prize is ₹20 less than its
preceding prize, find the value of each of the prizes.

34. State and prove Basic Proportionality Theorem (Thales Theorem).
35. Find the ratio in which the y–axis divides the line segment joining the points
(5, –6) and (–1, –4). Also find the point of intersection.
36. A) A straight highway leads to the foot of a tower. A man standing at the
top of the tower observes a car at an angle of depression of 30 0, which is
approaching the foot of the tower with a uniform speed. Six seconds
later, the angle depression of the car is formed to be 600. Find the time
taken by the car to reach the foot of the tower from this point.
OR
B) The angles of depression of the top and the bottom of an 8mt tall
building from the top of a multi – storeyed building are 300 and 450
respectively. Find the height of the multi – storeyed building and the
distance between the two buildings.

37. A) A line segment is divided into 4 parts forming an A.P. The sum of the
lengths of 2nd and 3rd parts is 2 times the sum of the lengths of first two
parts. If the length of 4th part is 14cms, find the total length of the line
segment.

B) A manufacturer of TV sets produced 600 sets in the third year and 700
sets in the seventh year. Assuming that the production increases
uniformly by a fixed number every year, find

38. Sanjay got a playing top as his birthday present, which surprisingly
had no colour on it. He wanted to colour it with his cryons. The top is
shaped like a cone surmounted by a hemisphere as shown in the
