11. a) i) By current divider rule find the current thró each resistor shown in Fig. 1. (8)

12. a) i) With a neat sketch, explain the working principle of a transformer. (8)
ii) A 25 KVA transformer has 500 turns on the primary and 50 turns on the
secondary winding. The primary is connected to 3000 V, 50 Hz supply. Find
the full-load primary and secondary currents, the secondary e.m.f. and the
maximum flux in the core. Neglect leakage drops and no-load primary current. (8)

b) i) What are the conditions necessary for build-up of a shunt generator ? (8)
ii) Explain the load characteristics of a compound motor with a neat diagram. (8)

13. a) Explain in detail the principle, construction and working of longitudinal and
cross-sectional view of variable reluctance motor.

14. a) i) Write the block diagram reduction rules. (8)


ii) Find C/R by using block diagram reduction technique. (8)
