(Common to all branches except Marine Engineering)
(Regulations 2001)

Time : Three Hours Maximum : 100 Marks

Answer all questions

Part – a (10×2=20 Marks)

1. What is the effect of temperature on elasticity of a material ?

2. Mention any two methods of producing high vacuum.
3. Calculate the increase in the acoustic intensity level when the sound intensity is
doubled.
4. What is magnetostriction effect ?

should a screen be placed in order that the lamps may equally illuminate it ?
8. Mention any two uses of sextant.
9. What is called population inversion of a laser system ?
10. List the advantages of optical fiber communication over conventional
communication.
