 To be able to fully use the services in SDP3 you must have a
Certificate for services installed in your computer. For more
information about the certificate, see TIL > Scania Diagnos &
Programmer > Other information > Certificate for services in SDP3.
 Demo files recorded by an SDP3 version older than the one you are
using has limited possibilities to show parameters.

System specific news
Checking a circuit – Tool information
Improvements have been made to circuit diagrams to be used if tool
information is missing.
If you place the mouse pointer on a connection pin, the cable terminal
part number, relevant hand crimping tool, dismantling tool and cable
marking are displayed.

Switch module configuration tool

Used to troubleshoot, configure, renew and verify switch modules in the
instrument panel. The tool also contains support to move switches
digitally. Thereafter, only the keytops in the vehicle need to be moved
between its switch modules.
The tool is started by Electrical system> COO > Calibration or by
Functions > Calibration > Bodywork adaptation.

ACC – Climate system

New system option for the climate system: ACC3.
The system is available in 2 versions: ACC – Premium and ACC –
Automatic.
 The water valve is discontinued.
 An air flap is used for temperature control.
 Troubleshooting of all actuators via separate control and reaction.
 Calibration guide when renewing the climate panel or actuator.
 New fan motor located on one side of the climate unit.
 Control of auxiliary water heater (WTA2) via sub data bus on the
climate system.
 Control, troubleshooting and fault code setting for comfort cooling
when the engine is shut down (COL) is done in the climate system
(ACC3).

ALM – ALM1 – Alarm system

Phasing out of LAS which is replaced by two new system families: DCS
and ALM.

 Scania CV AB 2016
The functionality is similar to LAS but is now distributed to the new control
units. ALM is now a pure alarm control unit.
The greatest changes that affect troubleshooting:
 Configurable inputs for additional sensors (parameter setting).
 Reduced number of adjustable parameters.
 Always protected by a PIN code and encryption code. Locking
and unlocking is done by Functions view > Calibration > Theft

The system is similar to EBS5 but all components are of new design. The
component codes, however, are the same for the different versions.
 The steering angle sensor is no longer connected directly to the
EBS control unit, instead it is connected to the coordinator via the
CAN bus for driver support. Calibration of the steering angle
sensor is therefore done from the view Functions > Calibration >

COL – System for auxiliary cab cooler

A completely new system for auxiliary cab cooler when the engine is
switched off (at short-stops): COL.
The system uses the existing climate unit with an electric compressor and
fan. The system can only be configured together with ACC3. All
diagnoses are carried out in ACC3 via a sub data bus.
 A completely new system which is controlled via sub data bus on
ACC3.
 Fault code setting, diagnostics and troubleshooting are done via
ACC3.

The functionality is similar to LAS but is now distributed to the new control
units. ALM becomes a pure alarm control unit that is described under its
own heading. All signals from the button panels and the control unit
outputs have diagnostics support and can be troubleshooted via SDP3.
Troubleshooting guides are found under each component, linked from the
fault code or via the Functions view. An overall description of the DCS
system is found in Scania Multi. Most important changes that affect
troubleshooting:
 Extended CAN functionality with CAN-based button panels.
o Switch module for door lighting does not go via DCS but
via VIS.
o Switch modules to DCS cannot be configured with the
switch module configuration tool.
 A control unit in each door: the driver’s door control unit (DCS1)
and the passenger door control unit (PDS1).
 Managing remote controls (DCS1) via the Functions view.
 Always protected by a PIN code and encryption code. Locking
and unlocking is done by Functions view > Calibration > Theft

and to make the work involved more effective. After evaluating the
function Exhaust gas aftertreatment, check of sulphur pollution,
we have come to the decision to remove it from both the
Inspection programme and SDP3.

Known problems and shortcomings
EMS – Engine Management System
OCS
There is no support for C1677 and C1678 for LNG vehicles manufactured
before November 2015. As a result, information and signals regarding the
fuel level sensor and solenoid valves for high pressure are no longer
available in the Electrical system view.
For troubleshooting, Scania refers to the flow diagram for the fuel system
instead. For more information see Functions > Checks> Powertrain> Fuel
system> Flow diagram for fuel system, gas engines.

TMS – Transmission management

system
Software before 52.40 for TMS1 and before 62.27 for TMS2 does not
handle high split being engaged when starting the layshaft brake test. To
be able to run the test, the vehicle needs to have low split engaged and
be in neutral.
