Information
Scania CV AB 2016
To be able to fully use the services in SDP3 you must have a
Certificate for services installed in your computer. For more
information about the certificate, see TIL > Scania Diagnos &
Programmer > Other information > Certificate for services in SDP3.
Demo files recorded by an SDP3 version older than the one you are
using has limited possibilities to show parameters.

System specific news
Checking a circuit – Tool information
Improvements have been made to circuit diagrams to be used if tool
information is missing.
If you place the mouse pointer on a connection pin, the cable terminal
part number, relevant hand crimping tool, dismantling tool and cable
marking are displayed.
Scania CV AB 2016
The functionality is similar to LAS but is now distributed to the new control
units. ALM is now a pure alarm control unit.
The greatest changes that affect troubleshooting:
Configurable inputs for additional sensors (parameter setting).
Reduced number of adjustable parameters.
Always protected by a PIN code and encryption code. Locking
and unlocking is done by Functions view > Calibration > Theft
protection.
Scania CV AB 2016
Chassis > Brakes.
A guide for manual activation of voltage supply to the brake
caliper wear sensors has been introduced.
Worked and clarified fault codes. The number of fault codes has
been reduced.
Guides for troubleshooting pneumatic faults have been
introduced. Note that all guides are started via a link under
Actions in the fault code text.
Guides have been introduced for checking the regulator module’s
inputs for wheel speed sensors and wear sensors. Note that all
guides are started via a link under Actions in the fault code text.
2 roller brake test modes introduced in EBS7:
o Roller brake test mode 1 (the TC button is pressed for 6
seconds) is used for MOT vehicle tests.
o Roller brake test mode 2 (The TC button is pressed for 9
seconds) is used for inspecting vehicle combinations with
wear distribution problems. For more information on roller
brake test modes, see Scania Multi.

differential lock connectors
solenoid valves.
Logic for requesting level control functions, previously in the coordinator,
now found in CMS. ELC is connected via a sub data bus from CMS.
Scania CV AB 2016
DCS – DCS1, PDS1 – Door control
system
Phasing out of LAS which is replaced by two new system families: DCS
and ALM.
The functionality is similar to LAS but is now distributed to the new control
units. ALM becomes a pure alarm control unit that is described under its
own heading. All signals from the button panels and the control unit
outputs have diagnostics support and can be troubleshooted via SDP3.
Troubleshooting guides are found under each component, linked from the
fault code or via the Functions view. An overall description of the DCS
system is found in Scania Multi. Most important changes that affect
troubleshooting:
Extended CAN functionality with CAN-based button panels.
o Switch module for door lighting does not go via DCS but
via VIS.
o Switch modules to DCS cannot be configured with the
switch module configuration tool.
A control unit in each door: the driver’s door control unit (DCS1)
and the passenger door control unit (PDS1).
Managing remote controls (DCS1) via the Functions view.
Always protected by a PIN code and encryption code. Locking
and unlocking is done by Functions view > Calibration > Theft
protection.

EMS – Engine Management System
S8 and EMD1
Scania continuously strives to improve the Inspection programme
and to make the work involved more effective. After evaluating the
function Exhaust gas aftertreatment, check of sulphur pollution,
we have come to the decision to remove it from both the
Inspection programme and SDP3.
OCS
Support for collision detector B1015 has been implemented for
trucks. For more information, see Electrical system> EMS > E103,
Control unit OCS > OCS > B > B1015, Collision detector.
Flow diagrams for LNG tanks have been implemented in
Functions > Check> Powertrain> Fuel system > Flow diagram for
the fuel system, gas engines.

SDP3 in connection with fault codes.
Changed authorisation levels for function parameters in TMS1
and TMS2.
Scania CV AB 2016
system
The menu option COO/EMS/LAS does not support COO8, DCS1, PDS1
and ALM1. This menu option will be phased out and replaced by locking
and unlocking via Functions view > Calibration > Theft protection.

heater) and 6 kW (cab and engine heater).
The heater locks itself after several failed start attempts. SDP3
now includes a calibration guide in to unlock the heater if required.
When renewing the combustion air fan, the new fan needs to be
adjusted with regard to the carbon dioxide content. Guide to
measure the content is found in SDP3 in the Functions view.
The fault code texts have been revised.

Known problems and shortcomings
EMS – Engine Management System
OCS
There is no support for C1677 and C1678 for LNG vehicles manufactured
before November 2015. As a result, information and signals regarding the
fuel level sensor and solenoid valves for high pressure are no longer
available in the Electrical system view.
For troubleshooting, Scania refers to the flow diagram for the fuel system
instead. For more information see Functions > Checks> Powertrain> Fuel
system> Flow diagram for fuel system, gas engines.
