PROGRAM GOALS:

a. To provide good understanding and appreciation of the athletic requirements, laws and regulations of the sport, and etiquette necessary for
playing badminton at both recreational and competitive levels.
b. To enhance the students’ competencies to play and enjoy badminton as a leisure activity.
c. To understand the development of badminton as a sport within the context of the commercialization of sport.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES:

a. Graduates of this program should be able to:

 Recognize the history of the game.


 Explain and demonstrate the basic strokes used in badminton
 Explain and demonstrate strategies and technique used in badminton
 Assist other students in the practice and development of the basic strokes
 Explain and apply the scoring system used in both singles and doubles play
 Explain and apply the basic rules of singles and doubles play
 Explain and apply the basic strategies used in singles and doubles play
 Identify issues of safety and etiquette issues in badminton
 Compare the various fitness principles as they relate to badminton

 Perform skills tests on the overhead clear, short and low serve, and high and deep serve
 Perform skills on the competition using the technique and strategies of the game.

b. To achieve these outcomes, graduates must have the following competencies:


 Strategizing your shots and moves to counter your opponent is a skill that experienced players develop over time
 Practice the correct positioning of the foot in different shot.
 Discuss and demonstrate skills of the game using knowledge of best practices;
 develop discipline to be able to handle defeat, as well to set goals and achieve them consistently.
 engage in the game enhance competencies to play and enjoy the game.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course explains the History, value, rules and regulations of badminton; practicing basic strokes and movement as well as playing skills.

COURSE OUTCOMES:

At the end of this course, the student should be able to

 Recognize the history of the game.
