The document is a detailed lesson plan for a statistics and probability class in Valencia National High School. The lesson plan aims to teach students about point estimators for population proportion. Students will participate in games and group activities to identify symbols and their meanings related to population parameters and point estimates. They will also work in pairs to calculate sample proportions and identify point estimates. Finally, students will be assessed through additional games to test their understanding of sample proportions and identifying the event out of a given sample.

Teacher Chreniel Lou G. Alecida Learning Area Statistics and Probability
Time & Dates September 15, 2017 Quarter 1st

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of estimation of
population mean and population proportion.
B. Performance Standards The learner is able to estimate the population mean and population
proportion to make sound inferences in real-life problems in different
disciplines.
C. Learning Competencies / LC: Identifies point estimator for the population proportion.
Objectives. CODE: M11/12SP-IIIi-1
II. CONTENT Point Estimate For the Population Proportion

IV. PROCEDURES
Games (collaborative approach)
 The students will be divided into six groups
ACTIVITY/STRATEGY  Each group will form a line facing backward
(10 minutes)  Each group will have a representative to identify the meaning of the
symbol which is shown to them
 Representatives relay the message to its group
 The last person on the line will race in front to get the card containing
the message received
 Show the card to the teacher
 The group with most correct number of answers win the game.

Symbols Meaning
μ Population Mean
σ Population Standard Deviation
p Population Proportion
x́ Sample Mean
s Sample Standard Deviation
ṕ Sample Proportion
The teacher will process the answers of the students
Group Activity (collaborative approach)
ANALYSIS  With the same groupings, each group will fill out the table below using
(10 minutes) the symbols from the previous activity (simply categorize the symbols
into two groups):

Population Parameter Point Estimate

 Point Estimator – is a sample statistic used to match or estimate a

population parameter.

population proportion.

Peer Tutoring
 By pair, the students must find the sample proportion/point estimate
APPLICATION of
(10 minutes) a. the students who got the grade of 85 and above in Mathematics.
The grades are: 80, 79, 84, 85, 82, 86, 89, 90, 91, 85.
b. the students who pass the quiz in Mathematics given that the
passing score is 8 out of 10. The grades are: 8, 7, 4, 5, 8, 6, 9, 9, 9,
8.

Games
ASSESSMENT  The students will be given the sample proportion and identify the
(15 minutes) event/number out of the given n samples.
