Social Media Is The Ability To Connect and Share Information With Anyone On Earth

Social media allows for global connectivity, enabling users to connect with people around the world with shared interests. However, increased social media use can reduce family intimacy as family members engage with social media instead of interacting face-to-face. While social media enhances education by providing access to information and learning networks, it can negatively impact relationships when overused at the expense of real-world interactions. Moderation is important to gain the benefits of social media while mitigating the risks.

social media is the ability to connect and share information with anyone on

Earth, or with many people simultaneously. as a way to interact with friends

and family
Social media are interactive technologies that allow the creation or sharing/exchange of
information, ideas, career interests, and other forms of expression via virtual
communities and networks.[1][2] While challenges to the definition of social media arise due to the
broad variety of stand-alone and built-in social-media services currently available, there are some
common features

social media
: forms of electronic communication (such as websites for social
networking and microblogging) through which users create online
communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, and other
content (such as videos)
Individuals use social media to express themselves, discuss their interests,
connect with friends, and grow their careers

Social Networks
• Social networks specialize in connecting and exchanging
thoughts, ideas, and content with other users
• Many people call social networks “relationship
platforms” because they allow people to connect and
build a relationship. You can share information,
photos, videos, and more through these sites. These
platforms focus on sharing knowledge and connecting
with people.
• These platforms allow us to connect with our friends,
family, and even brands. Most social network sites let
users share thoughts, upload photos and videos, and
participate in groups of interest.
While sites like Facebook and Twitter enable you
to post photos, they aren’t considered media
sharing networks.

• Media Networks

• As opposed to social networks, which specialize in letting users share and exchange
raw thoughts and ideas, media networks specialize in distributing content like
photographs and videos. Instagram and YouTube are examples of this. A YouTube
user, for example, will upload a video they've created, and other users can "like,"
"dislike," or comment on the video. If they enjoy the video enough, a user may
choose to "subscribe" to the creator, so that new videos from that creator appear in
their feed.

• Examples: Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube

• Why people use these networks: To find and share photos, video, live video, and
other media online.

6. Discussion sites
• Discussion sites like Reddit and Quora are specifically
designed to spark a conversation. Anyone is free to ask a
question or make a statement, and this attracts people
with shared interests and curiosities. Also You can learn
a lot about your audience by looking at what they say
about your brand on these forums. Even if you have a
lesser-known brand, you can still see what people are
saying about different topics in your industry.
• . However, unlike Facebook and Instagram,
users tend to give out less identifiable
information.

2. Social review sites
• Besides Review networks allow people to find,
review, and share information about brands,
products, and services, as well as restaurants,
travel destinations, and more. Also review
networks like Zomato,  FourSquare Glassdoor
not just beneficial to regular users like you and me,
businesses can as well get to understand the
customer’s perspective. Both the good and bad,
this can help them to identify what’s working and
discover areas with room for improvement.

• Social blogging networks

• Examples: WordPress, Tumblr, Medium

• Why people use these networks: To publish, discover, and comment on content
online.
Pros and cons of social media –
conclusion
The debate about whether social networking is good or bad is likely to continue, but it’s
ultimately like just about everything else. As long as you – and your children – use social
media sites in moderation, there’s nothing to be afraid of.
The fact that children are saying they’d be happier if social media didn’t exist isn’t necessarily
an indictment of social networking sites themselves but rather the way in which we use them.
The darker sides of social networking, such as bullying, scamming and the spread of
misinformation, were happening offline way before they were ported to the internet.
So if you – or your children – are worried about using social networking sites, don’t be. Just
keep your software updated, double check information before you believe it and keep your
privacy settings updated. And if social networking is getting you down, take a break. After all,
when you’re using it correctly, it enhances your life instead of taking over it.

The use of social media in education provides students with the ability to get more useful information, to
connect with learning groups and other educational systems that make education convenient.

Social network tools afford students and institutions with multiple opportunities to improve learning
methods.

Worldwide Connectivity
– Social Media has made the prospect of global
connectivity just a mouse click away. You can
quickly search for people with a wide variety of
interests. This provides a personal benefit to the
individual
• Reduces Family Intimacy
There are many types of relationships that people develop over time, and the most
important by far is the ‘family relationship’, of course. It is here that the impact of social
media can be seen the most. Earlier, families would bond over face-to-face
conversations that would be had with one another when everybody was done with their
day’s work and were at home, unwinding. These days, families barely greet one another,
and everyone is engrossed in their own news posts on their own social media accounts.
Watching videos, reacting to posts online and responding to friends seems to have
become more important than even saying hello to one another. Below we discuss some
further effects that social media has on family relationships.
