Faith Lutheran College
130 Magnolia Road
Tanunda, South Australia, 5352
Dear Ben Schwarz,
I am writing to express my interest in the advertised full-time middle school teaching position. I am currently finishing my
last year of study in a Bachelor of Education, Primary/Middle at the University of South Australia. I have been committed to
understanding the teaching role within the Middle Years Program (MYP) throughout my 4 years at University, with two of my
placements focussing on year 7, and one placement on year 8-12. I have plans to move to the Barossa in the future, with this
application being a great opportunity moving forward.
My professional goal as a teacher is to practice a culturally inclusive pedagogy. I endeavour for my classroom to be a
democratic and inclusive environment that supports and develops student autonomy. Through effective scaffolding students
will feel safe to contribute in a collaborative learning space that will encourage their learning whilst supporting individual
needs and overall well-being. I know that this ties in with the ethos of Faith Lutheran College and connects to the
implementation of an effective Middle Years Program (MYP) framework.
I currently work as a Student Support Officer (SSO) at North Adelaide Primary School, and as a Responsible Person (RP) at
their OSHC. Likewise, I have six years’ experience in the outdoor education industry. This has allowed me to develo p an
effective toolbox of skills that I can implement within my class context. Through my work at North Adelaide Primary School,
and my University placements, I have strengthened my communication, collaboration and relationship building skills. I have
developed strategies that engage students in meaningful and enjoyable learning, and I acknowledge that it is important to
be challenged and try new methods in the classroom environment. Through having experienced large class numbers and
challenging individual behaviours both in my placements and SSO role, I understand the complexities in a classroom and how
to differentiate and manage challenging behaviour with minimal support.
I uphold to Lutheran morals and values by understanding that every student I teach is important and are a valued member
of the school. I enjoy creating an atmosphere that allows for positive relationship building and believe that every person ha s
a fundamental right to an education and can learn how to be responsible for their actions. Students in my class will be
encouraged to reach their full potential with the school values at the forefront of my planning.
I am committed to building positive rapport and trusted relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community. I
have used positive communication and appropriate interpersonal skills with individuals and in team situations. I enjoy
collaborating with other educators and forming learning opportunities together to enhance student learning. My success in
establishing and maintaining positive, respectful, and effective relationships with all parties of the school, stem from my
ability to communicate effectively.
My passion for learning engages students in meaningful learning experiences which are individually contextual and re late to
the real world. I understand that not all students learn in the same way and I believe it is important to develop individual
learning strategies and self-regulation skills. I provide authentic and personalised models of teaching and learning to
incorporate learning theories with a focus on literacy and numeracy. I am aware that this is a fundamental aspect of the MYP
program which the school is implements into their core subjects.
Given my previous experiences, I believe I would be a valuable member to Faith Lutheran College and am excited to develop
my knowledge whilst working in a positive teaching and learning environment.
I look forward to hearing back from you to discuss my suitability for the position in a formal interview process.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours sincerely,
Jonathan Campbell
