FAQ LISTECH Access Anywhere Licences

Q: What is a LISTECH Access Anywhere licence?


A: They are a new network-based licence type that enables Neo and LISCAD to lease seats
from the licence via a LAN, (e.g. your office) WAN, (e.g. your branch office) or Internet (e.g.
at home) without the need for a USB dongle or a software licence locked to your computer.

Q: How do I setup Access Anywhere in my environment?


A: You install a small piece of software called the LISTECH Licence Server on either a physical
or virtual Windows based computer. The Licence Server can be accessed via a web browser
to activate Access Anywhere licences and configure settings to your requirements. Comput-
ers running Neo or LISCAD can connect to your Licence Server and lease a seat from the
licences it hosts.

Q: Does the Licence Server require Internet access to work?


A: Normally the Licence Server requires Internet access so that it can communicate with the
LISTECH licensing web service to keep the licences it hosts up to date. However, the Licence
Server can also operate in an isolated network environment where access to the Internet is
not possible or maybe not permitted by IT.

Q: Can I host multiple Access Anywhere licences on the same


Licence Server?
A: Yes, there is no limit to the number of Access Anywhere licences that can be hosted on a
single Licence Server. Each licence hosted can have a varying number of seats and
module configurations.

Q: Can I select which Access Anywhere licence I lease a seat from?


A: Yes, both Neo and LISCAD allow you to select which licence you want to use and will save
this as the default for next time. If you are uncertain which licence you need, you can view
the module configuration of each licence. You can only lease a seat from a licence if all the
seats are not already in use.

Q: Can I see who is using the Access Anywhere licences hosted on my


Licence Server?
A: Yes, the Licence Server console enables you to identify who is using seats from licences, and
the activity log enables to you to view past licence usage.
Q: How many people can use an Access Anywhere
licence simultaneously?
A: That depends upon the number of seats the licence has. For example, an Access Anywhere
licence with four seats allows any number of people to use the licence, but only four people
can do so at the same time.

Q: Can I restrict who has access to my Access Anywhere licences?


A: Yes, you can restrict access to an Access Anywhere licence by setting a password or specify-
ing IP address ranges of the client computers allowed to use the licence.

Q: What if I am going somewhere without network connectivity?


A: You can “Check Out” a seat from an Access Anywhere licence for the duration of your choice
and use that seat offline.

Q: What versions of Neo and LISCAD support Access Anywhere licences?


A: The December 2020 release of Neo and LISCAD 2021 or later support Access
Anywhere licences.

Q: Can I convert my existing dongle network or standard licence to an


Access Anywhere licence?
A: Yes, existing Neo and LISCAD subscription or perpetual licences can be converted for a fee.

Q: Does a licence have to be on LISTECH Cover or a current Subscription


to be converted to an Access Anywhere licence?
A: Yes, only licences currently on LISTECH Cover or a current subscription can be converted.

Q: If I convert to an Access Anywhere licence can I keep my existing


dongle?
A: No, you will need to return your existing dongle to LISTECH.

Q: Can an Access Anywhere licence be converted back to be dongle-


based?
A: Yes, but there is a fee associated with this conversion.
