Safety Drill Evaluvation Report: Comments

The drill was a collision drill conducted on the MT Elise on January 4, 2019 at 11:30-11:50 local time. The master and chief engineer participated along with the rest of the crew. They were able to respond within 1 minute and 40 seconds of the alarm. The drill was rated as satisfactory and involved maneuvering the ship, closing watertight doors, checking for damage and stability, broadcasting distress signals if needed, and offering assistance to any other vessels. The crew demonstrated they understood the proper procedures for a man overboard situation as well.

1132 Hrs.Man oeuvre the ship so as to minimize effects of collision

1136 Hrs. Close watertight doors, if fitted and fire doors

Switch on deck lighting at night

1140 Hrs. Switch VHF to Channel 16 and, if appropriate, to Port Authority Channels

1142 Hrs. Make ship's position available to radio room/GMDSS station, satellite terminal and other
automatic distress transmitters and update as necessary

Sound bilges and tanks after collision

Check for fire/damage especially transmitted damage

Check stability/ damage stability and maneuvering capability of vessel

Offer assistance to the other vessel as appropriate

1145 Hrs. Broadcast DISTRESS ALERT and MESSAGE if the ship is in grave and imminent
danger and immediate assistance is required, otherwise broadcast an URGENCY
message to ships in the vicinity
1150 Hrs. completed the drill..

All crew explained about the above drill; so if any man overboard the crew immediately prepare
everything regarding man overboard such as keep sharp look out, stand by engine, manoeuvring and
using any other life saving appliances.
