An individual's environment consists of biological, physical, chemical, social and psychological external factors. A healthy community promotes social harmony, meets basic needs, has a diverse economy, sustainable resources, and clean environment where members interact, participate in programs, and have access to health facilities. Issues threatening community health include different forms of air, land, and water pollution from improper waste disposal, pesticide use, fishing practices, deforestation, and climate change.

Communities regard BIOLOGICAL, ENVIRONMENTAL, PHYSICAL,


PSYCHOLOGICAL, and MEDICAL SCIENCES to prevent diseases and health
promotions.

Community is a group of people within a geographical location that shares the following:
 NORMS
 VALUES
 COMMON INTERESTS
 CULTURES
 BELIEFS

Environment is everything that is external to the person with the following factors:
 BIOLOGICAL
 PHYSICAL
 CHEMICAL
 SOCIAL
 PYSCHOLOGICAL

COMMUNITY OF INTEREST - “Community within a Community”


Examples:
School Clubs (SIUALA, Council, TDC, Teatro Busko, Indak, etc.)
Sports Teams (Basketball, Swimming, Taekwondo, Football, Athletics, etc.)

GEOGRAPHICAL COMMUNITY – The environment includes mountains, rivers, etc.

VIRTUAL COMMUNITY – Through communication in the media.

COMMUNITY HEALTH – the beliefs, arts and sciences, and skills used to maintain
and improve the health of every individual through social action programs. The goals
are still the same as technology, science and actions change.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH – characteristics necessary to have surroundings fit for


living among communities.

A HEALTHY COMMUNITY

 Promotes social harmony (Safety among others)


 Meets everyone’s basic needs (food, water, shelter and clothes)
 A diverse economy (The economic growth is stable and grows bigger)
 Sustainable resources and environment (Enough supplies to maintain survival)
 Clean, and safe environment
 Members interact and share experiences
 Everyone actively involves in programs and activities
 They have access to proper health facilities
 Everyone understands and knows the local public issues
 They participate in discovering solutions to issues
 They promote the celebration of cultural traditions and practices

environment in every community.
