1. INTRODUCTION
This document forms part of the Boskalis Way of Working, the integrated quality management system
applicable to all operations in Boskalis. The Boskalis Way of Working is structured around four Phases
as pictured below. This STD TOPSIDE REMOVAL – LIFT POINT DESIGN is typically prepared in the
PLAN Phase, where the main implementation is taking place in the EXECUTE Phase.
More detailed information about the Boskalis Way of Working can be found in the Group Manual and the
User Guide. A dedicated website with all supporting materials is available at wow.boskalis.com.
2. PROJECT BACKGROUND
The mid and South Tapti fields are situated approximately 150 Km offshore, southwest of Hazira rear the
Gulf of Khambhat, of the west coast of India. The fields cover an area of approximately 1,471 km2 and lie
in waters of approximately 21 m. The South Tapti field was discovered in 1977 and the Mid Tapti field
was discovered in 1980 by ONGC A production sharing contract (PSC) was signed for the Mid and South
Tapti contract area in 1994 between the Government of India and the contractors, Panna Mukta Tapti
Joint Venture (PMT JV), comprising ENRON (30%), ONGC (40%) and RIL (30%). BG Exploration and
Production India Ltd (BGEPIL) acquired ENRON’s stake in the PMT JV in 2002, and now act as
operators of the fields on behalf of the Joint Venture Partners. The field went into a phase of decline after
2008 and Cessation of Production (CoP) was declared in March 2016 for the Mid and South Tapti wells.

The Tapti field has a number of wellhead platforms which are connected to the central processing
complex TPP-TCPP via infield pipelines. The South Tapti field consists of the STA, STB, STC & STD
wellhead platforms and the Mid Tapti field is comprised of the MTA wellhead platform.
The TPP central processing facility (together with wellhead platforms STA, STB, STC and TFP flare
platform) was installed in 1997 by ENRON and this was followed by a bridge connected processing and
compression facility TCPP (together with STD and MTA) which was installed in 2007 by BGEPIL. TPP is
also bridge connected to the STB platform with accommodation capacity for 86 persons. The TPP-TCPP
complex processes the gas from the 5 wellhead platforms (STA, STB, STC, STD and MTA) in a
comingled flow regime.
The Tapti Part A Facilities comprise of processing platforms (TPP, TCPP and TFP), export pipelines and
PLEM’s running from these processing platforms to the trunk lines. The part A Facilities have been
handed over to ONGC.
The Tapti B facilities comprise of the wellhead platforms STA, STB, STC, STD & MTA and the bridge
from STB to TPP including the associated intra-field pipelines connecting these wellhead platforms to the
central processing complex. The PMT JV is planning to decommission the Tapti part B facilities in
compliance with the regulatory requirements and decommissioning plan by Boskalis Offshore
Contracting B.V. as an EPRD Contractor.
This plan is part of the Boskalis Offshore Contracting B.V. Way of Working (WoW) Project Management
System to provide the Engineering, Preparation, Removal and disposal services for the Tapti B facilities
decommissioning.

Executive Summary
Summary
STD topside lift-points are analysed for offshore lifting condition according to AISC [1]. The appropriate
load factors for this calculation are mainly taken as per basis of design [4]. The topside gross weight and
COG considered for the calculation is according to WCR report [5].
Preliminary calculation was performed on the lift-points using the existing geometry and the result shows
that the lift-point does NOT have the capacity to withstand the present acting sling load (UC > 1.0).
It was agreed with BOC to retain the main plate geometry and make use of double sided cheek plate (i.e.
four cheek plates with two on each sides) in the design calculation.
Result
Summary of the calculation result is presented in table below. For the calculation details, refer to Appendix
A and Appendix B.
Conclusion
From the above mentioned results, it can be confirmed that, lift-points pass the AISC [1] code checks for
lifting condition. Hence, it can be concluded that the STD topside lift-points has sufficient strength to
withstand the offshore lift condition based on designed data.
The tubular columns supporting the lift-points are not investigated in this calculation.

1.2 Scope
The purpose of this calculation report is to perform a structural integrity calculation for STD topside lifting-
points.

2 Design Details
2.1 Introduction
The existing lift-points used during the installation of the topside have been partly removed after
installation, [3]. The partially cut existing lift-points (RED BROKEN LINE) will be re-installed to
accommodate for decommissioning lift. The lift-points cutline is highlighted as red in Figure 2.1 and Figure
2.2. For Row-A2 lift-point, the cut-line shall be along the column (RED UNBROKEN LINE) due to presence
of helideck column.
500 mT Green Pin Shackle was used for the installation of the topsides. On request from BOC, the new
lift-points will be upgraded to suit 600 mT Green Pin WB shackle. Modifications in the pin-hole diameter,
spacer plates and cheek plates are foreseen compared to [2].
Lift-point 2 @ Row-2:
Based on the differences in geometry of the lift-points, Figure 2.1 and Figure 2.2, two calculations was
requested to be performed by BOC. Refer Appendix A and Appendix B for the corresponding calculations
and geometry considered.
The topside gross weight and COG considered for the calculation, [5] is:
*Note: Lift points including their attachments to structure, the consequence factor = 1.30. For members
which is not part of lift-point attachment and directly supporting or framing into lift point, the consequence
factor = 1.15. These members are checked in the global analysis, [6]
