• With a height of 1,000 meters and a total floor area of 800 hectares, SKY CITY 1000
is a superhigh-rise city comprising 14 concave dish-shaped, aerial bases called,
"Space Plateaus" stacked one upon the other.
• Residences, offices, commercial facilities, schools, theaters and so forth are
organically located in these spaces.
• 35,000 people will reside here, and 100,000 people will work here.

• Since the announcement of this concept in 1989, it has attracted attention
throughout the world, and on the threshold of the next millennium, there are
increasing expectations for its realization.
• Fire simulations are being examined to estimate the threat to the 35,000 residents.
• Tokyo's only Fire Helicopter is now being used in exercise drills to test the ability to
fight fires in such a tall structure.
• Each Space Plateau will have its own train circumnavigating the plateau.
• Triple decker high speed elevators, which will hold up to 70 people, are now being
designed at experimental labs outside of Tokyo.
