Classwork and Homework:
In this class, we will complete a variety of assignments in our notebook, workbook,
and on IXL. Notebooks will be graded regularly. Assignments need to be turned in
on the due date at the beginning of class. Most days, students will have up to 20
minutes of homework, usually if classwork is not completed, Assignments are
expected to be finished that night, or before the due date.

Attendance & Participation
Students are expected to be prepared and actively participate in class. Participation,
Agendas, and Attendance account for 20% of student grades. For Participation
points, they must be prepared, ask questions, answer questions, and turn in work on
time. Students earn 2 points a day for this (10 points a week in the gradebook).
Students must write their weekly assignments and due dates in their agenda. This
will be checked once a week for points. Although this category is separate from
students’ citizenship grade, it factors highly into the calculation. Students with an
80% or lower may not receive an “O” for outstanding citizenship.
Late work
Students are expected to check the class website daily and write down the day’s
assignments. Late assignments will be accepted up to one day late for 50% credit. In
the case of excused absences, confirmed by parents/guardians, they will receive
the number of days they missed to complete an assignment. For example, if a
student is absent for three days, they may have three extra days to complete the
assignment, per school policy.
Cheating and Plagiarism
There is zero tolerance for cheating and plagiarism. Any students caught plagiarizing
or cheating will immediately have their parent/guardian notified. Additionally, the
student will receive a zero on the assignment. This offense takes away the
opportunity for a successful citizenship grade as well as making the honor roll. I
would recommend that students do not risk their future and experience here at San
Benancio for a couple of points. It is not worth it!
Extra Credit
I love extra credit! It is a great way to get some extra learning that is not part of the
initial curriculum. There will be a set of extra credit points offered for each module,
This will include additional practice questions related to the lessons and a graph. All
work for that unit must be turned in to be qualified to participate in the extra credit.
Extra credit is not there to make up for missed assignments.
Tests & Quizzes:
It is important that students study for all tests and quizzes. Mrs. Burwell always
informs students of what notebook pages, workbook pages, and resources to study
in order to succeed. For unit tests, there will be a compiled study guide to help
students study the correct information. Students can retake a quiz or test for up to
3
80%. Students must schedule a retake with the teacher within two weeks of getting
the assessment back.
Technology:
Technology will continue to be a vital part of learning in the classroom. It is important
that students use technology ethically and appropriately both in and outside of the
classroom. Any student found not using technology appropriately or ethically will
result in parent contact and potential loss of privileges. Be respectful and
responsible with using technology.
