Pak US Relations

The Pak-US relationship has had a cyclical pattern with ups and downs. Historically, Pakistan joined the US-led capitalist bloc after independence while India allied with the Soviet communist bloc, hindering India-Pakistan relations. While Pakistan saw the US as an ally, the US supported India in the 1965 war over Kashmir, setting back ties. After 9/11, the US again turned to Pakistan for help against al-Qaeda in Afghanistan but tensions have risen under President Trump, who accused Pakistan of harboring terrorists and said the US would no longer provide billions in aid. Maintaining the relationship will require finding areas of converging national interests.

Pak-US Relationship

Outlines

(1) Introduction

(2) Historical background

(3) Mr Donalt Trump speech

(4) Conclusion

Pak-US relationship having a cyclical pattern with unceasingly ups and

downs. The relationship between these two nations have been flourished

during the period of international tension, when the events like 50s, 60s,

70s, 80s and 90s took place simultaneously. After, when the post 9/11

has taken place the both allies again strengthened their relationship.

Pakistan lies in the center of south Asian region and its Geo-political

importance attract the attention of world powers. This is the reason that

USA the only super power in the world pull toward Pakistan, and on the

other hand China is another leading power in modern world and is

dependent upon the territory of Pakistan to access in other world, the

easiest way for china to get at in the European African and other central

Asian countries. This is because, USA taking interest toward Pakistan to

dismantle China economically.

However, the historical background witnessed, that Pakistan soon after

its independent joint the capitalist block united nation US where as India

make its alliance with USSR the communist block during the period of

bicameral political system in world and create hindrance between India

and Pakistan relationship. Keeping in view the relations, Pakistan always

thought positive toward USA, in spite to help Pakistan USA support

India in 1965, war which was fought between India and Pakistan on

Kashmir issue. This achievement of US set back the relations between

these two alliances. And after 9/11 the event compel USA again toward

Pakistan for allegation however, Pakistan has also made their ties with

USA without any doubt and America started back their aid to Pakistan to

fight against terrorist group al-Qaida which was making offence living

in the soil of Afghanistan.

Moreover, US president Mr Donalt Trump in his speech in front of US

troops “stuck a knife into Pakistan” that Pakistan is giving a safe haven

to the terrorist group instead of acknowledgement of its sacrifices

against terrorism. And Mr Donalt Trump also point out that America has

given billions and billions of dollar to Pakistan in the shape of aid

America would no longer be silent.

In conclusion, a clean break between Pakistan and US seems unlikely,

despite simmering disagreements over a number of issues. So the need

of the hours is to formulate a foreign policy that maximizes the areas of

convergence of national interests of two countries by minimizing the

negative fallout of their divergence.
