FINAL EXAMINATION
DISCIPLINE AND IDEAS IN APPLIED SOCIAL SCIENCE

Our society nowadys are experienceing different societal problems nowadays. Thos societal problems are both
affecting the people and the society itself. For your task today in your final examination, you are about to think
of a certain social problem in your own society and imagine that you are a social worker.

I. SOCIAL PROBLEM:Abortion ___________________________________________


( What is your chosen social problem all about elaborate below )
My chosen social problem is Abortion, as it is a social issue not here only in the Philippines but also
globally.
The chosen topic will be about to how Abortion can be a choice and always will be a choice for the
woman being pregnant. This will also cover when a woman is raped what she will do? Does she abort the
unwanted baby or live with it even though it may cause her the future that she wanted before she got
raped?

II. As a social worker:Psychiatric Social Worker (example Doctor, Teacher, Lawyer and etc.)

How are you going to help in solving that social problems in your community to help the:
a.) Individuals

First I will calmly help the said person to her decision if she wanted to abort the baby, I will not
force but help through her own decisions. Saying facts like. If she decided to abort the baby, a
future life will be gone. But on the other hand, it’s ever to abort than give a child a non
meaningful life in which the child may get traumas because of their parents not wanting them in
the first place. People though may say to her that a child is a blessing but it is she who will raise
the child. So technically it is her choice.
b.) Groups

I will conclude a group meeting in where they share their experiences, talk about it, helping them
to let their problems out, as one of the ethical responsibilities of a social workers I will maintain
the utmost respect even if the opinions of the others are different. Though I will guide them that it
is their choice and always will be theirs.

c.) Organization
Assuming that they are seeking guidance in aborting a baby, I will help them through that as it is
my job to guide them, providing therapy and such. As one of the functions of social work are to
empower my clients to resolve their problems. In which, telling them again and again that they
must write their own life, not others write their own life.

d.) Community

I will be able to
help the
community by
organizing a full
public meeting, in
which talking
about their health
if they don’t
abort or if they
abort, Giving
them options to
choose what to
do, Almost being
like a activitist
but this time, I
will be only giving
guidance and
facts to the
audience
