G Srinivvasan
CEO - Sporjo
G Srinivvasan is the CEO of Sporjo, a one of a kind startup that
creates a meritocratic pathway for individuals aspiring to work
in the sports industry, helping them turn their passion into a
profession.
Before starting Sporjo, G Srini, as he is commonly known, was
with the Reliance Group for over six years.
There he led marketing and strategy for the Reliance Sports
Group, working across global properties in football and cricket.
His functions also extended to IMG Reliance and Reliance
Foundation Youth Sports.
He was a key person in the team that set up and launched the
Indian Super League - India's premier football league. He
spearheaded the ISL’s sponsorship sales and marketing
functions for the first three years, while also being deeply
involved in the operations of the league. He also oversaw the
ISL’s subsequent expansion from eight to ten teams. Over this G Srinivvasan
period, the ISL has become a household name in India.
Before his role with the Reliance Group, G Srini was heading marketing and sponsorship sales
for the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) where he worked on the Indian Premier
League - IPL.
During his tenure of three years, G Srini helped formulate the brand strategy for the IPL,
working closely with the eight franchise partners on all commercial and sponsorship
elements. He liaised with broadcast partners from India and around the globe to promote the
league in their respective territories well ahead of its start. He also led a commercial team
from IMG to sell sponsorships and subsequently service central partners of the league.
Additionally, he managed relationships with central partners and the broadcaster to promote
the Indian National Team’s games. He was also the lead across marketing and commercial
verticals of a cross-functional team from India, Australia, and South Africa for the Champions
League T20 tournament.
Before the BCCI, G Srini worked with Nike where he led the football category business. He also
handled brand communications for over four years. During this time he set up the brand and
digital functions. He was the mind behind the 'Nike traffic Jam ad' which is recalled as one of
the best ads in India till date.
G Srini began his journey in sports with ESPN wherein he worked on the brand marketing
team, eventually moving to business development, and then creating customized sporting
events for almost just under 5 years.
Before ESPN G Srini spent four years in advertising where he started his journey with Lowe
and an advertising agency in the Middle East.
