Reflex Stimulation Response Description


Muscle Tone Holding infant’s hands and pulling the Normal Mild Flaccid
body upward, away from the surface hypotonia
towards the examiner’s body
Sucking/Rooting stroking the lips/cheeks of the infant; Weak Weak/Near Absent
Reflex the infant’s mouth opens and the ly Absent
examiner introduces their gloved
finger and sucking starts
Moro Reflex Holding the infant so that one hand Strong, Weak, Absent
supports the head and the other low incomplete/

series of movements: the infant’s

abduction of the upper extremities

Babinsiki Reflex Stimulating the outer edge of the sole Strong Slight Weak/
of the foot. The infant responds by Absent
plantar flexion and either flexion or
extension of the toes
