Use your own family (or find a family/friends) to teach this lesson to. Submit a ½
page reflection on how this teaching experience went, along with this lesson plan.
The lesson went pretty well. I did have to make a few changes. Instead of
using jars we cut out cardboard. We divided the different sections into tithing,
saving and spending. During the lesson I thought of a really good analogy about
marbles related to budgeting. If you put marbles on a table they move around.
They won’t stay where you put them. If you put the marbles into jars they don’t
move around. They stay where you put them and they are protected. I related it to
budgeting. If you don’t have a home for your money it can move around and
become lost. My mom said that it was her favorite part because she hadn’t thought
about finances in that way.
As I taught the lesson everyone was engaged and answered the questions. I
forgot to share my testimony at the end but I did share a little of it while I was
teaching. I also forgot to read the scriptures that we had prepared. I was a little
rushed in the lesson and was a little nervous. Overall it went pretty good.
