Adding New CAN Files

The DSE controllers utilise CAN files that are selected in the PC configuration software to suit the
connected electronic engine. Updates to the electronic engine support are controlled by updates to
the CAN files. For the DSE53xx series, these CAN files have the Windows files extension .fec,
DSE55xx and DSE75xx series CAN files have the extension .fex,
DSE31xx/DSE44xx/DSE6xxx/DSE7xxx and DSE8xxx series CAN files have the extension .dll.

• Obtain the files

o The files are either obtained from Deep Sea Electronics Technical Support Department
(email [email protected]) or you will have downloaded them from our website
(web www.deepseaplc.com)

• Installing the files for DSE5xxx and DSE75xx

o Close the DSE5xxx or DSE75xx PC Software. The software must not be running when
the new files are installed.
o Copy the new CAN file to C:\Program files\Common Files\CAN files on your PC. This
is the default CAN file installation path for the DSE5xxx and DSE75xx PC Software and
may be different on your PC depending upon where you installed the software to on
your PC.
o If you have files in this location with names the same as the files you are installing, you
may want to consider backing up your old CAN files folder before you begin.
