for this is that each country has its own set of expectations and the businesses necessary to meet those
demands that Starbucks have.

Answer: The driving forces behind globalization are cultural exchange, low barrier to trade and
investment and technological exchange, multi-national companies and the product development cost.
4. What are the benefits of globalization?
Answer: The benefits of globalization are unsaturated demand for new products, reduced labor costs,
less expensive natural resources, and other product inputs are all reasons to expand into developing
countries. Technological advancements have made international business considerably more convenient
than it was previously. MNCs try to take advantage of globalization by selling items in numerous
countries and sourcing production in places where they can produce goods profitably. There is also a
method of free trade which is a way for countries to exchange goods and resources. And lastly is greater
competition and increased investment.
5. What are the negative effects of globalization?
Answer: The following are the negative effects of globalization:
Unemployment- Due to use of advanced technology the use of labor reduce significantly.
Because of that the unskilled employees lost their jobs.
Dumping- Dumping has become a significant issue for developing countries. Dumping
allows wealthy countries to take advantage of the developing world's market by offering
low prices for their products, at which local producers are unable to compete.
Environment Disaster- Climate change has become a "hot" topic in recent years. Global warming
affects global economies as well. Countries have built many enterprises in search of advanced
and capital-intensive technologies; yet, these sectors are quickly increasing pollution (Lane,
2006).
Limited Natural Resources-In the race of globalization and progress, every country is heavily
using its natural resources, which means that these resources will be depleted in the near
future. Petroleum is currently a highly important source of energy, but it will not last long if new
energy sources are not sought (Lane, 2006).
Competition- Domestic companies were unable to create goods at that price to the standards
that is set by the foreign companies, raising concerns about their long-term viability. With the
influx of new businesses into the market, competition has intensified. Many domestic
businesses were unable to compete with foreign corporations and were forced to shut down.
Spread of Diseases- It is very evident nowadays especially Covid 19 which is fast spreading with
the assist of globalization.
Inequality- Globalization has widened inequalities, widening the gap between the rich and the
poor. No doubt, there has been an advance in overall living styles, but not in the way that was
envisioned. In terms of skilled employment, inequality has also risen. Those that are skilled can
advance in their careers, but those who are not up to date on new skills find it difficult to shift
careers ( Sharma, and Starik, 2002).

Answer: Globalization affects communication not by changing it but by adding new style of
communicating like making phrases into abbreviations in order to circulate the information in a busy
schedule. It is evident nowadays because many business opportunities have been opened and everyone
is busy nowadays.
2. What are the things that people do now which could not be done before globalization?
Answer: When globalization emerged people nowadays can easily communicate through cellphones and
easily finish a job efficiently due to machines made possible by globalization.
3. Are the effects of globalization on communication positive or negative? Support your answers with
concrete examples.
Answer: I can say globalization have more positive than negative effects because we all know
globalization has both negative and positive effects. Its positive effects is that we can now efficiently
finish transactions even if we live in different countries for example bank transactions. But its bad side is
that it lessens personal contact making it vulnerable in scamming and other illegal activities.
