Go, Charles Warren M.

Problem 30-a

Analysis:
Total amount of seepage (q) = 1.355-7 m3/s

Icr = 1.0 (for vertical flow direction)

Iexit = 0.08585

Factor of safety = 1/0.08585 = 11.648

Problem 30 – b

Analysis:
Total amount of seepage (q) = 2.0097x10 -6 m3/s

Icr = 1.0 (for vertical flow direction)

Iexit = 0.3681

Factor of safety = 1/0.3681 = 2.717

Problem 30 – c

Analysis:
Total amount of seepage (q) = 8.10x10 -7 m3/s

Icr = 1.0 (for vertical flow direction)

Iexit = 0.036

Factor of safety = 1/0.036 = 27.78
