Kinds of Characters
Protagonist – a leading character

Antagonist – opponent or enemy (creating main conflict)

Deuterogamist – second most important character (sidekick)

Fringe - less important character

Types of Characters
According to Development
Flat Character (one-dimensional) – a character that is not very well developed by the author and have
no character development; have very limited info about

Round Character (multi-dimensional) – undergo significant character development; a character which


we know a lot of info. About ; simply one who is interesting and layered

According to Capacity to Change

Dynamic Character – undergoes substantial internal changes due to events in the story(often main
character); one who changes significantly throughout the story

Static Character – who remains the same throughout the course of the story (second character)
