Hi all,
Posts: 7
I want to transfer files from PC to controller and vice versa. The
controller is RH and I have installed Kfloppy on PC. I have the serial
cable with pin out:
pin 2 <-> pin2, pin 3<-> pin3 and pin 5<-> pin7.

My problem is I don’t know how to work from here. I think I can send
files from PC to controller by “emulating” using Kfloppy and it would send
all files in the directory of kfloppy. But that doesn’t work. Also I can’t
seem to change the directory of kfloppy either.

I am a newbie so if any one could walk me through with this I would

greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Kayani

Emulating on KFloppy basically just turns your PC into a large floppy

Offline drive. All of the commands you need have to be done from the karel
screen of your robot.

Posts: 298 We will start with the kfloppy side. I find it best to go into its dos mode
using the system in the file menu. from here its just "CD directory" to
go up a directory or "CD.." to go back one directory (Old dos commands)
when done type "exit" to return to kfloppy. I know there can be issues
in using kfloppy on usb and anything newer than XP

on the robot side, you will need a CRT and to be in the Karel screen. the
following are commands you can use
copy /o FD:*.* BM: (copy and overwrite from floppy drive {kfloppy} to
bubble {robot internam memory})
copy BM:*.* FD: (copy robot files to floppy)
del file x (delete file named x)

Good luck

Hi Napierian,
Posts: 7
Thank you so much for your reply. I have been able to change the
directory by going in "System" like you mentioned.

The issue now is when I type any command at "copy /o FD:*.* BM:" at
KCL> it tells me "Port is in use". I think the files don't get transferred
because 1) I don't see them in internal memory of controller when i type
"dir" at KCL>. 2) At the PC end the emulator says "No activity" and
indicates 0 bytes of files transferred.

If you have any suggestions as to how I can get the port to work, please
let me know. [I am using the port on Operator panel.]

Many thanks again.

the few times I have seen port in use, it is because the system has
Offline crashed while transfering files (doesn't release the port as the operation
never completed)

Start with a fresh boot of both the PC, and robot. Make sure the PC is
emulating, and it should allow you to do a "DIR fd:" to show the contents
of your pc directory.

Thank you so much. You are right, restarting both the PC and the

I have been successful in transferring files from PC to controller and vice

versa.
