INTRODUCTION
Workplace Inequality and its Psychological Impact on Single Mothers
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
A substantial amount of worldwide research shows that single moms have poorer mental health
than their coupled counterparts, with socioeconomic disadvantage recognized as a significant
contributory element in explaining this health gap. Much less research, Unfortunately, despite
their expanding participation in the work field, has focused explicitly on the psychological well-
being of single moms who are employed.
The focus of job-related research has been on job status rather than other key job-related aspects
that may affect psychological health, such as psychological work quality and workplace stress.
The objectives of this research were to compare skilled single mothers to employed
collaborating mothers on measures of psychological distress, psychosocial work quality, and
work - life conflict, and to investigate the potential role of work-family conflict and psycho -
social work quality as justifications for any significant variability in mental distress based on
intelligence is fixed.
Statistics reveal that the number of single parents is increasing. In 2018, the anticipated number
of Filipino single parents is 15 million, with 95 percent of them being women. This is why we
restricted our study to single mothers.
We believe that these single moms face occupational discrimination. They may not have equal
rights and advantages, and they may even face discriminatory and unpleasant statements from
coworkers or bosses.
As a result, individuals lose attention and engage in unproductive work behaviors such as
tardiness, absenteeism, and inadequate job performance. Furthermore, when a parent has several
obstacles in managing job and parenting, a kid is deprived of quality parenting, which has a
negative impact on the kid's development.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
This study aims to evaluate levels of psychological anguish in employed single moms vs
partnered moms, as well as to investigate the potential impact of work-family conflict and
psychosocial job quality as reasons for any observed variations in psychological distress.
Specifically, the study will seek to answer the following questions:
1. What are the Measures of socioeconomic position included educational attainment in
terms of ;

b. some post-secondary training,
c. college, and
d. university graduate ?
2. What is the impact of Workplace Inequality and its Psychological Impact on Single
Mothers on the following aspect

b. Socio-Economic, and
c. Socio-Cultural ?
3. What are the problems faced by a single mother on the following aspect?
a. Socail,
b. Emotional, and
c. Economic?
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The study's goal is to find openness, empathy, supportiveness, positivity, and equality among
mother and kid as important characteristics for successful children. If parents are unable to
provide their kids attention and love, their children will develop feelings of insecurity and hatred
towards themselves and their environment.
Similarly, if parents are unable to instill discipline in their children's schooling, the likelihood of
an uncertain future for their kid increases. A single mother must deal with a slew of issues and
confront the most difficult task of her life: being a single parent who must be able to play many
roles, including that of a father who works to support the family and a mother who nourishes and
educates her children.
As a mother, she is expected to manage everything on her own, including financial management,
jobs, and nurturing time for her children.
SCOPE AND DELIMITATION
The study looks at the role of single parents in their children's achievement. In-depth
interviews with single parents and their children are used to do research on the aspects of
openness, empathy, supportiveness, optimism, and equality between single parents and their
children.
The study's findings indicated that the majority of single moms were stressed by financial issues.
The single mother's emotional life was also impacted by her single status. The majority of single
mothers experienced feelings of loneliness, helplessness, hopelessness, lack of identity, and lack
of confidence.
Due to the lack of male members, the majority of single moms found it difficult to maintain
discipline among their children. The moms expressed feelings of loneliness, stress, and sadness,
and said it was difficult for them to bear the responsibilities of childcare and develop a schedule
for their children.
