Student-centered philosophies put a stronger emphasis on individual student preparation. These philosophies
bring a greater emphasis on students' personality and assisting them in realizing their full potential. Teachers and students generally
work together to determine what should be learned and how it should be accomplished.
According to progressivism's philosophy, teachers here are focused more on the outcome learning of the
students, meaning they are less concerned with evidence and more concerned with the results of what the students learn. Teachers
want their students to learn much about a specific topic as it helps them develop critical thinking skills and how they handle
situations.
Social reconstructionism is where students are more engage in the real life scenarios. It is a philosophy that
stresses the discussion of social problems, importance of social responsibility in learning, and the creation of a better world and
global democracy. Reconstructionist educators emphasize a program that emphasizes education's purpose of social change.
Existentialism is another model, which contends that in order to evolve as persons of free will, students must
be able to direct their own learning. The aim is for students to develop a greater understanding of themselves as individuals. This
suggests that students should have a voice in what they learn and that the program should be more adaptable.
These student-centered philosophies aim to develop the skills and knowledge of the students. They will learn
on how to handle different problems and awareness on what our society is facing right now. These will produce a great citizen or
future leaders of the society.
