SUBJECT: Measure to Minimize 0004/ 0044/ 0094 Jam on the ADF
PRODUCTS AFFECTED / SERIAL NUMBERS AFFECTED:
Products Affected: Serial Numbers Affected:
IR-ADV C5250 120V JMQ00001 to JMQ00952
IR-ADV C5255 120V JME01001 to JME01091
GENERAL:
The Sensor Flag [1] of the Delivery Sensor (PS13) in the One-path ADF may not be able to move freely
triggering 0004/ 0044/ 0094 jam codes.
0004 Jam: Delivery Sensor Stationary Jam (Appears after one or more originals have been run)
0044 Jam: Delivery Sensor Stationary Jam (Appears after the first original has been run)
0094 Jam: Jam occurs when main power turned on (Appears before running any original)
DETAILS:
The Arm [a] of the Torsion Spring [2] which swings the Sensor Flag [1] may deviate as shown in the
picture [A]. This deviation occurs due to unwarranted contact between the Pinpoint of the Arm [b] and
the Shaft portion [3] of the Sensor Flag [1]. If the Arm [a] deviates, the Torsion Spring [2] will be
pressed towards the direction of the red arrow (see picture in next page) and this will hamper the motion
of the Torsion Spring [2] preventing the Sensor Flag [1] from returning to the proper position.

Factory Measures:
The shape of the Arm [a] of the Torsion Spring [2] has been changed so that the Pinpoint of the Arm [b]
will not contact the Shaft portion [3] of the Sensor Flag [1] in order to prevent the deviation of the Arm [a].
[B] is the old type of the torsion spring [2] and the arm [a].
[C] is the new type of the torsion spring [4] and the arm [c].
