1) Value-oriented education aims to instill important values like truth, goodness, and beauty in students. However, contemporary education systems are eroding these values due to a focus on monetary gains. 2) Drug and substance abuse among teens has increased drastically from 2007 to 2010 according to surveys. The most commonly abused substances are alcohol, marijuana, cigarettes, and prescription drugs. 3) There is a lack of values education in school curricula, which is causing unrest among students and leading some to engage in anti-social activities. Moral degradation is also occurring between students and teachers.
