everything and everyone, and some more drastically than any other thing. For a number
of families, it could mean making big changes in everyday routines due to numerous
hurdles with an end to this phase is still unknown. Mostly this pandemic has left our
lives in distraught and has tipped our anxiety, it has come as a surprise to some of us
and has changed the way we live and the things we did on a daily basis.
The common issues that everybody is facing this time are as follows: Education,
Food, and Environment. The global lockdown for educational institutions caused a
many families around the world: home schooling is not only a massive shock to parents’
productivity, but also to children’s social life and learning. Teaching is moving online,
on an untested and unprecedented scale. Student assessments are also moving online,
with a lot of trial and error and uncertainty for everyone. Many assessments have simply
been cancelled. Importantly, these interruptions will not just be a short-term issue, but
can also have long-term consequences for the affected cohorts and are likely to increase
inequality.
The primary risks to food security are at the country level: as the coronavirus
crisis unfolds, disruptions in domestic food supply chains, other shocks affecting food
production, and loss of incomes and remittances are creating strong tensions and food
security risks in many countries. Despite stable global food prices, numerous countries
are experiencing varying levels of food price inflation at the retail level, reflecting supply
disruptions due to pandemic, currency devaluations and other factors. Rising food
prices have a greater impact in low- and middle-income countries since a larger share of
In our home, I have witnessed my sibling, cousins and relatives who are all
struggling also in their studies in the new type of classes. Some of them are toiling on
their modular tasks and online classes due to some unanticipated problems. Also, we
have a garden which is full of flowers but there are no vegetables nor a fruit that is
planted that I think is most important especially in today’s situation. For the solid waste
segregation on the other hand, we do not have here enough available waste container for

A. Monitoring
Since the pandemic is still on-going and I have online classes and other tasks to
do within Mondays to Saturdays, for my project in literacy, I have decided to check the
children/students in at least once a week so they have also time to read and digest their
lessons and tasks by themselves. For the livelihood project, since I am only doing this at
home with my family, I have decided to check the progress of the plant everyday as well
as to water it daily. I will also check the family if they are really participative in recycling
materials at home.
B. Evaluation
For the evaluation of this project, I must study the possible outcome of this
project intensively. For the child education support, I can evaluate it through checking
and assessing during our gathering if they really understood their lessons well. For the
home vegetation, I can assess it through surveying if the plant/vegetable did grow or did
not grow. In solid waste management on the other hand, I can check it through
inspecting if the family really participated in recycling or reusing materials such as
cellophane bags.
C. Sustainability
To sustain the “Child Education Support Project” I must give them some sort of
activities which would help them energize their ability of thinking while we are having
our meeting. Also, I am planning to give them snacks/food after our discussion so they

I just started to plant the vegetables that are shown in the picture below earlier this
month. I planted ginger and onion leaves on a mini pot because I cannot find the perfect and
safe place in the house to plant those, therefore, I came up with the idea that I will instead put it
on top and plant it on a mini pot so that it won’t be destroyed by dogs. I find it hard to look for a
compatible soil at first but later on the planting time I find it easy to plant those and I hope it
will grow.
It is my first time teaching and helping my cousins with their module tasks but luckily I
did not find it hard to help them because they are open and teachable too. Since I got enough
information about what they are struggling the most, I will enhance myself more on studying
and dig deeper about their lessons so I could help them much better and more effectively.
Segregation at source level is the need of the hour as the waste being produced in the
present day has negative impact on environment. It is the first step towards proper disposal of
all categories of waste. Bits of plastic are dry waste components which if not disposed properly
can become an environmental hazard. Better to keep one more bin for toxic wastes such as
medicines, batteries, dried paint, old bulbs, and dried shoe polish. Segregation of waste is basic
need for channelizing the waste to wealth by reduce, reuse recycle and recover.
Since I started planting the ginger and onion leaves, a week later I noticed that my plant
is starting to grow. I saw how the plants hold onto the soil. Both of them are doing great and
with giving it enough continuous water and sunlight would make it much even better.
I am giving my cousins enough time for them to rest and study within a week. We only
meet at least once a week so I could still monitor their academic tasks and on how they cope up
with it. So far, all of them are doing great.
I don’t have that much waste here since I only live alone and my neighbouring relatives
throw their wastes separately. But if I throw garbage, I always observe proper segregation of
waste so that I could easily know on how to throw them accordingly.
The vegetables that I planted grew well and grew even good this week, but I only suffer
struggle on my ginger plant because it did not grew taller or bigger because of the weather.
Ginger needs more than enough sunlight for it to grow. But my onion leaves on the other hand,
grew pretty well.
We met once this week for the updates on how they are coping up with some of the hard
topics on their modules. I helped them understand some of their lessons for them to be able to
easily answer their module tasks.
Solid Waste Management
I am away from my family’s home and I am living alone in our other house but, I may not
have my family living with me, I still have my cousins or auntie visiting me sometimes. We
sometimes sleep all together here and pray together before meal, and before sleep. But when I
am just alone, I only pray alone also.
After a month, I noticed that my onion leaves grew very much long that it is ready to use
for cooking. I did not put any chemicals on it just enough sunlight and water.
This month, I gained a little money because I sell the plastics that I earned. The papers
also are properly put on the compost pit and the garbage bag this month is therefore clean and
empty.
By meditating/ talking to God every day, I felt relieved, safe, and loved every time. There
may be ups and downs and upcoming challenges but I worry less because I know I am fighting
and will be facing those with God.
I continued to teach my cousins about their module and help them understand
their respective module tasks. I found out their weaknesses especially on their English
speaking and writing skills. We could not also meet every Saturday of the week because
most of them are Adventist. Therefore, some of us are communicating via messenger,
others are taught face to face because we only live near each other.
I have gathered plenty of wastes this week and segregate them all properly. I
separate, Plastic, metal, and paper that I find it great idea because these are the things
that are commonly used here in the house.
I lived away from my parents, therefore, I only pray by myself every time I wake
up, and every time before I sleep in the evening, I sometimes pray before meal to thank
God for all that He has given me and to my family. I feel energetic everyday knowing
that I am loved and I am enough for God.
I am continuing helping my cousins with their studies. All of them have their own
concerns and questions regarding with their module and I could still possibly connect
with them any day of the week. Some of us are busy especially on weekends, So I meet
them any day of the week at night to help them and assess their improvements.
I am still working in this project in the way of segregating waste properly because
it is so much important to have a part of the house where I could dispose things
properly. Some of the plastics and metals are being sold to those people who are trading
waste (nangangalakal) especially the plastic bottles and cans.
Prayer in life is important as it helps me to feel renewed every day. Even though I
live separately to my family, I still pray every day not just for compliance for this project
but also for the compliance of helping my soul to be better every day.
I added my plant with the following plants: Spinach, Lemon Grass, and Horse
radish. I also added my plant more onion leaves. Now, I am still waiting for them to
grow. I do not need to water them every day since almost every day is raining due to the
typhoon. I just putted them in an area where they will absorb enough sunlight.
An hour in a week is not enough for them to learn that much. So, I told them if
they have questions or something is concerning them, they are free to connect me via
social media platforms like messenger. In that way, it will take lesser time and more
convenient since we could do video calling.
Solid Waste Management
The waste that I gathered this week was properly disposed. The papers were
thrown into compost pit, the metal/cans and same goes with the plastic bottles. The
garbage bags were at the back of our house to keep it properly.
This week, there is no day that I did not pray, and it felt good to constantly talk to
God knowing that there is someone whom you could share your entire day without any
receiving any judgments.
At the end of the month, I noticed that my plants grew and continued growing. I
am also planning to add some plants more but I am still looking for where I could plant
it and what pot would I use. I already have more of my onion leaves and some ginger to
plant. Once I find a pot, I will automatically plant these.
At the end of the month, I noticed that they improved their English speaking
skills, and now, I am looking forward to help them improve their spelling of words not
just merely teaching about their module and module tasks because I see those as
significant in life also.
I have gathered so much waste in a month and I am happy that I was able to
segregate them properly. Some of them were properly disposed by throwing it in the
compost pit and some were disposed to those people who are waste trading
(nangangalakal).

Sometimes my cousins are busy during weekends and I cannot spend some time
to them also in weekdays. Therefore, whenever we get time to have at least an hour or
two once a week. I spend it guiding them with their modules.
I am still continuing the proper segregation of waste in the house with the help of
my auntie. Every Sunday, she either disposes the garbage we collected throughout the
week or sell them to the people who trade waste.
Not just every day but whenever I get time or I feel sad, I feel happy, I talk to God.
I may not go to church every Sunday but I talk to Him any time of the day asking for
guidance of everything and everyone.
This week, I came up with an idea in which I should buy garbage bags. Using this
bags, the garbage or waste that I will be putting there will be neat and organized to look
at.
We received a bible from my Tita. She is a Christian and devoted one. She told me
and mom especially to read the bible at least once a day and make a reflection. I slept in
the other house together with my family and me and my mom read the bible that night.
I seriously observed my plants this week because last day one of my onion leaves
died. I don’t know the reason why but this time I checked them every time of the day if
something happens.
Since I used the garbage bags, it was easy to recognize because of garbage bags.
Before, I struggle because even though I put the sack for waste, they still threw their
garbage anywhere. But now, they already know and recognize the proper place for their
own waste/garbage.
Family Prayer Life
Whenever I get time and whatever I may feel in that particular time, I close my
eyes and talk to Him. I pray that everything goes well.
This day, my plants/vegetables made a huge progress. They grew well and some
were used already. We are able to used it whenever we want to cook something because
those are useful for everyday needs.
I am still on going in supporting and guiding them with their respective tasks. I
also continued helping my cousin regarding with their research and finish it as much as
possible.
The waste that we gathered this week was properly disposed and some of the
garbage just like bottles, plastic, and metal were sold to the people who trade garbage.
I talked to Him every time I wake up and before I sleep. Not just that time but
whenever I feel happy, sad, or worried. I say thanks to Him and usually ask Him to
guide me and my loved ones always.
