Some people think that museums should be enjoyable places to entertain

people, while others believe that the purpose of museums is to educate.


Discuss both views and give your opinion.
While a group of people argues that museums ought to be amusing spots to
engage individuals, others believe that they should concentrate on education. In my
point of view, why do not we make museums become a place where individuals
can learn and enjoy at the same time?
On the one hand, there is a belief that the main role of a museum is to
entertain. To begin with, museums are widely considered as significant tourist
attractions of any city or country. Nevertheless, they are said to be too elitist,
uninspiring, and only encourage educated people to visit. When individuals pay a
visit to museums and have to comprehend manifold educational contents, the
average visitor will decline on account of being bored. Thus, by adding more
entertainment values such as playgrounds, games, indoor activities, etc, museums
can appeal to a broader audience. In the modern-day and age, for instance, there is
also a wide range of museums that do not have an academic purpose, namely
chocolate museum in Belgium, kimchi museum in South Korea, or cheese museum
in The Netherlands.
On the other hand, it is argued that the main purpose of museums is to
educate people as they exhibit collections of interesting objects that hold great
cultural or historical values. Any exhibitions aim to teach visitors things that they
did not know before. Moreover, for many years, museums have been regarded as
valuable elements in school curriculums. This explains why the visiting museum is
accredited with fostering inquisitiveness and creativity in children. Also, they help
adults learn about certain subjects. The major reason museum exhibits are
important in educating people is because they memorably communicate
information. In this way, museums can play an important role in teaching people
about history, culture, science, and many other aspects of life.
By way of conclusion, it seems to me that entertainment and education both
have their benefits. For this mean, I strongly believe that as a result of the
combination of these factors, museums can be a perfect destination.
